Black Kite Cellars is a small, family-owned and operated winery dedicated to producing the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay using the best growing and winemaking practices applied to vineyards ideally situated for these classic Burgundian varietals. When we started with our first vintage in 2003, we already loved great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Burgundy and California. Over the ensuing years we have learned that we are engaged in a journey, one that combines high aspirations with long term commitment, patience and fortitude. It is a process of striving for the best over a long period of time. We appreciate that many of the best wines in the world are produced by family-owned wineries that have been around for generations. We are dedicated to the journey, and aspire to making great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for many years.

“Without question the best wine tasting experience I have ever had. Met with some close friends and my Mom to do a tasting here at the Jasper House the day after Christmas. Not only is the tasting room laid out like a movie set, but it is the most beautiful setting in Freestone. The wines are exquisite and some of the best Chardonnay I have had to date. Highly recommend their Chardonnay's and Pinot's. Cole, the Estate Manager, has such a wealth of knowledge about Black Kite, California Wines, and viticulture in general. He was so engaging, friendly and taught us so much and we were so grateful for his expertise. Please do yourselves a favor and stop into Black Kite for a tasting, make sure to get their cheeseboard as well for a perfect pairing. “Joe and I had had an amazing experience at Black Kite Cellars, in most part due to the hospitality of Cole Powers, the Estate Manager, and the rest was due to the quality of the wine and the tasting room experience. What a treat it was. The wines were superb and we are grateful for Cole inviting us into the tasting room at 3:45pm on a Sunday with no reservation. The tasting room is very dog friendly, and our two large dogs basically felt at home, one melting into the floor by the gas stove, and another asking for a neck rub from Cole. We love the wine and joined the wine club on the spot. We look forward to future visits. Thank you, Cole, we'll see you next time!”
