Castel’s seven-course menu -like music- is intended to tell a story. Beginning small and simply, following a progression of notes, dynamics and flavorful styling… the characters crescendo and evolve into something grander & greater with each passing measure. Each course is crafted with European fine dining as a keystone. Eastern flavors mingle with those of Germany, France, & Spain, bringing dishes to the table that are as unique as they are familiar. Our name alludes to Castell, a small town in the hill country, along the Llano river. Many of our Texan roots can be found and felt along that river. Visiting there today, one would see that time has not much changed Castell. It represents a part of Texas that is constant. For us that part is: Home. A native Texan, Chef Travis Bugge graduated from the CIA in Hyde Park, kickstarting his culinary career in the ranks of New York City’s of Michelin-starred restaurants before returning home to champion Austin’s budding food scene in 2014. Uchiko & Barley Swine are of note, as well as opening teams of Old Thousand and The Brewers Table. Castel’s founder became interested in food at an early age, with his father cooking the family's nightly dinners from scratch. Simple, sustaining, & unifying. This is what our team aims to bring to the table with every dinner Castel provides.

“Hired Travis to prepare a fancy dinner at my home to celebrate a milestone birthday. He communicated details up front, was prompt, and was personable in the kitchen while preparing the meal. Food was excellent - others have posted menu sample photos which may vary slightly. Highly recommended for a special occasion - I would do it again!”

“Chefs really put efforts into finding great quality ingredients. The gulf shrimps were delightful; the coconut sauce was very much refreshing and went so well with summer. The chefs really knew how to incorporate seasons into ingredients. Also the chocolate cake was phenomenal; pecans with soft cake always hits. Great explanations on all the dishes and very much an entertaining experience.”

“Surprised my wife with a date night at one of the pop ups, and it was money well-spent!! Travis had six or seven dishes and they were all delicious. He even gave us a parting gift gift of a homemade Stroopwaffle, Which barely made it to the car before getting eaten. Can’t recommend this enough!”
