Middleton Place is a Southern restaurant in the Historic Ashley River Plantation District neighborhood of Charleston.
“The gardens are beautiful. It is a nice walk and peaceful. We did a self guided tour and wandered for maybe 3 hours. Very well maintained and beautifully laid out.”
“The gardens and grounds continue to be must see and explore even after decades of visiting, Life on the plantation with all the animals is also a highlight. The Inn at Middleton Place continues to be a wonderful place to relax and explore the outdoors. It offers kayaking, horseback riding, in ground swimming pool, wood burning fireplaces in the rooms, a Lodge for nightly charcuterie and drinks, and both the Lakehouse (full hot breakfast included) and Fine Dining Restaurant for lunch and dinner with fabulous views year around. We enjoyed seeing Jessie each evening in the Lodge at happy hour and for after dinner cocktails and Macaroons. She was both friendly and an excellent bartender. We enjoyed dining both nights at the restaurant and found the food to be outstanding and the service from both Henderson and Ryan to be top notch. Dinner at sunset is a must. The Lakehouse had an excellent hot breakfast each morning with attentive staff restocking the buffet when needed. Variety and quality of food was very good.”
“Had an incredible experience at Middleton Place with the family. As locals who live right down the road, this place is always a breath of fresh air. The grounds are absolutely stunning and full of history, but what really completes our visits is the restaurant. The food’s outstanding — fresh, flavorful, and perfectly fitting for the atmosphere of the property. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the entire experience felt relaxed and authentic to Charleston. Whether you’re going for the gardens, history, or just a great meal, this place is worth the visit.”
“You definitely need good walking shoes! We took a golf cart tour first with Chuck of the outer property. What a sweetheart & a wealth of info. Then we spent 6hrs walking the beautifully landscaped grounds. We ate lunch at their restaurant & it was delicious. Highly recommend! This is definitely my new favorite place.”
“Went here for the garden lights event. The lights themselves were quite cool but it was mostly just different color lights shining on trees. We went on a colder night so there's was almost no one there which was nice. It was nice to just walk through the garden and look at the lights. One recommendation I would have is to direct quests better, multiple points during our walk we went the wrong way and ended up places we weren't supposed to be since it was dark. The staff with the yellow vests helping guests throughout were consistently amazing and great conversationalists. The staff at the gift shop gazebo were not the most pleasant but the food trucks were nice.”
