Welcome to Lonesome Rose where we celebrate and explore the melding of Northern Mexico and Southern Texas, with accessible, approachable menus and cocktails, which focus on the flavors these regions share.
“Will definitely be back! I got the watermelon salad and it was very fresh and flavorful. We also got the chips and salsa and the salsa was great. Our waitress was also very nice and helpfulWill definitely be back for happy hour.”
“This place is a gem. I thought the menu wasn't very exciting, so we waited a long time to try it out, but everything is awesome. Show up for happy hour, get the Dorado Supreme tacos for 3 bucks (think upscaled taco bell or white-people-taco tacos) and don't sleep on the veggie tostada. Drinks are all awesome, but the boozy horchata is mid. Rooftop patio is the best way to eat here but the indoor seating is good too.”
“Lonesome Rose is one of the most underrated spots in Chicago in my opinion. I’ve never had a bad experience here. This is an ideal brunch destination as I think they have the best breakfast burrito in town. Perfectly packed, holds together well, and the queso dip on the side compliments it so well. Their biscuits and gravy and fish tacos would be my other top choices. Well worth checking out!”
“This was was nice especially patio seating when the weather is nice. Their food is good but I asked for the shrimp taco and got a chicken on instead. Really enjoyed my time here and the drinks can be a little strong. They also have frozen margaritas as well to try.”
“This is a fun, casual spot to meet up with friends on a weeknight. I’m normally hesitant about these “upscale” Mexican or Tex-Mex spots because they try to be something they’re not. But Lonesome Rose doesn’t pretend to be something they’re not. We started with the chips and salsa, which were a generous portion with two types of salsa - pineapple and tomatillo. Both were delicious and the chips were the perfect amount of crunch! The ranch hand salad was delicious! Great ratio of dressing and toppings in every bite. My friends had the fried chicken taco which they said was delicious, and the carne asada nachos, which were smothered with too many pickled red onions. Overall, a fun spot! Fun drinks and fun food to split or have your own.”
