“Try this place! The food was so unique and tasty- fried pineapple burgers, peanut butter burgers, veggie and chicken skewers and for dessert- the baked Alaska! Wonderful, laid- back atmosphere and easy parking nearby.”
“We loved every dish we tried! Can’t recommend it enough. This was our first time at Mid City restaurant and honestly we were blown away. The flavors of all the dishes were really unique and full of flavor. It’s hard for us to decide which dishes were our favorites. Everything was awesome. We were only a party of two and they were able to seat us easily. However, I would say that if you have a bigger group to make a reservation ahead of time. We ordered the asparagus salad with Roe, bok Choy, fried sandwich, petite steak, chicken skewer, shrimp skewer and the Baked Alaska. If I had to pick a top three, order the petite steak, asparagus salad and Baked Alaska.”
“Mid City Restaurant is my favorite new restaurant. I love the cozy atmosphere, the excellent service, the hand crafted cocktails and the menu of small tasting dishes to share. It's very affordable, but the food is so good that you feel you are splurging on fine dining! I also love that you can make reservations. This is definitely a 5 STAR restaurant!”
“Mid City is a charming little restaurant tucked downtown with a menu built around small shareable plates, many of which carry subtle Asian-inspired influences. The atmosphere feels warm and approachable, helped in large part by an attentive staff who were quick with recommendations and kept everything moving at a great pace. Overall, the food was enjoyable and clearly well executed, though many of the dishes leaned a bit too heavily in the same rich, savory direction without enough contrast to make the flavors truly memorable. I ordered the mushrooms in foil, fried smelts, fried sandwich, and crab burger. Each dish was cooked very well, especially the fried components, which were impressively crisp and light rather than greasy. That said, the meal as a whole felt quite heavy, and I found myself wishing for brighter or more distinctive flavors to balance everything out. Even so, Mid City delivers solid execution, friendly service, and a fun small-plates concept that makes it worth checking out downtown.”
“I've previously had excellent experiences at Mid City, which is why this latest reservation was made in the first place. However, this time was a huge exception and I don't think we'll be back. The first table we were seated at was uncomfortable and freezing so we asked for a new one. The couple seated at that table after us ALSO asked for a new one, so it wasn't just us "being high maintenance." The server didn't seem to give a damn that we were there, and at least 20 minutes went by without a check-in. They also argued with my boyfriend that "old fashioned cocktails don't traditionally come with cherries" when he asked for one, which is straight up incorrect. My Manhattan was mostly vermouth, at least that's what it tasted like. Sadly, the food also sucked. It was not worth the $140+ we paid for it. The griddled bread was *okay* (woo), the petit steak filet was undercooked/still mooing, and the baked Alaska didn't even come with a cherry on top. The fried smelts were mostly breading, as were the potato croquettes. We also had the bok choi salad and the meat plate; unfortunately, I've had better at Kanji and Oktoberfest for half the price. I don't know if the chef working on New Year's Eve was a backup or what, but we were completely underwhelmed by this experience. It was so disappointing, as it was supposed to be a treat for ringing in the new year. What gives, Mid City? Get your act together.”
