“Well, we went for mother's day . Food was very tasty, I ordered the crab cakes as my entree, wife ordered lemon caperd chicken, others ordered pistachio crusted salmon. Food comes out as 3 course menu. So appetizer comes out 1st for every appetizer ordered. Then soup or salad , then ur entree. Cute place entire staff helps each other. Entree was a bit slow at getting to our table, other than that it, over all experience was a 4.5 Nice place to take ur significant partner on a date night or special day. Check posted menu for pricing.”
“My wife and I had a wonderful experience at McRae’s on a Saturday night. We arrived just a few minutes after they opened at 4:30pm to avoid the rush, and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We were greeted immediately, seated right away, and our drinks and appetizers came out fast. We started with a bottle of wine and their famous Reuben fries. I meant to take a photo, but we were too busy enjoying how incredible they were. Trust me, they’re a must‑try. For our entrée, we shared the chicken‑fried venison with roasted beets, goat cheese, and pine nuts. Absolutely delicious. We finished with the flourless espresso chocolate cake, and wow… the perfect ending to an already fantastic meal. The ambiance is something special, rare collectibles, original artwork, and a cozy, elegant vibe that makes the whole experience feel unique. It’s the perfect spot for a date night: upscale without being pretentious, and surprisingly affordable for the quality you get. The manager and staff were attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. We can’t wait to come back and try their brunch.”
“I got the apple Chicken Salad & Brussels. The salad was just what I was looking for! Not too heavy and the vinaigrette dressing was perfect on top. I'm not a huge brussel sprout fan, but theirs with a side of balsamic vinegar has turned me into a fan! They were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The vibes of the restaurant were not what you would expect from the outside 10/10!”
“Hidden gem. Might just be the best Texas Twinkie in the metroplex. Lots of great gluten-free options, as they use rice flour for batter, light and airy. The flourless espresso chocolate cake is better described as a chocolate cream pie --very good (shown with EXTRA Whipped Cream). Everything pictured is gluten-free. Loved the vibe in the restaurant, decor is amazing!”
“TLDR: I was served raw chicken and a rancid steak during the same meal. My husband and I had an 8 PM Saturday reservation at McRae’s American Bistro. The evening started with a cocktail that was essentially straight lime juice and had to be remade. Then our food order was apparently never entered, resulting in a long wait. When my lemon chicken finally arrived, I took one bite and realized something was wrong. Using my phone flashlight in the dark dining room, I discovered the chicken was pink and visibly raw inside. I sent it back and ordered the filet instead. The moment the filet was placed in front of me, it had a strong spoiled odor. I started gagging. The steak smelled rancid, and both the waitress and bartender appeared shocked when we brought it to their attention. The restaurant comped our meal and the manager called me the next day to apologize, which I appreciated. However, my concern was not getting free food—it was food safety. I explained that serving raw chicken and what appeared to be spoiled steak during the same meal pointed to serious issues with kitchen practices and quality control. I specifically asked what steps would be taken regarding food safety procedures and employee retraining, but I did not receive clear answers that gave me confidence meaningful changes would be made. A bad cocktail can be remade. Forgetting an order is frustrating but fixable. Serving raw chicken and a foul-smelling steak that appeared spoiled is a much more serious issue. I’ve supported East Dallas restaurants for years and have never experienced anything like this. Because I left the conversation without a clear understanding of what corrective actions would be taken, I will be reporting this incident to the city health department. I am genuinely concerned someone could get very sick.”
