Galazio Restaurant is a Greek restaurant in the La Plata neighborhood of La Plata.
“Nice comfy place with great atmosphere and even better food. Madison, our server, really know her stuff. Lamb chop cooked to perfection. Seafood pasta is packed with flavors, not heavy filling. All foods came out looking great, presentation wise. For dessert, baklava cheesecake goes great Greek coffee or Greek iced coffee frappe. Came in for lunch, ate lunch and got to-go for dinner. Oppa!”
“My husband and I went for the Valentine’s Day special dinner. This was a reservation only event and was very well put together. The atmosphere was sweet and romantic. The staff was attentive and kind. The food was very good, the small portions were the only draw back, but it was an experience and was to look sophisticated. We like the restaurant specifically and this was a neat event to experience. I would probably only do this once since it was a little on the high end but it was really nice all in all.”
“The food here is delicious but the portions are small for the price you pay. It’s $5 to add Greek fries to your gyro but all you get is handful of fried sliced potatoes with a dusting of oregano. They don’t have any flavor at all so not worth it. The gyro is delicious and loaded with meat. I will come back for the gyro but won’t get any more side orders.”
“The experience begins well before the front door. Even from the parking lot, the aromas drifting from the kitchen set expectations high, rich, savory, and unmistakably inviting. It’s the kind of sensory preview that makes you quicken your step. The restaurant is bookable via Resy, making it an easy choice for those looking to apply dining credits from American Express Gold or Platinum cards, always a welcome convenience when planning a night out. Despite being a weekday, the dining room was notably busy, buzzing with the energy of what feels like a family-run establishment. There’s a warmth to the atmosphere, personal, lived-in, and authentic, that suggests a loyal local following. That said, it was clear the crowd may have slightly outpaced staffing levels. While the service itself was courteous and attentive, there were noticeable delays with drinks and refills, understandable, though worth mentioning. We started with the Southern Maryland Crab Dip, which delivered solid flavor and a generous blend of cheese and crab. I would have welcomed a bit more artichoke heart for balance, and perhaps an additional slice or two of bread. With only four slices provided, the ratio leaned heavily in favor of the dip, fortunate in abundance, but impractical in execution, as even those slices were quickly overwhelmed. The Chicken Kabob proved to be a reliable and satisfying choice, tender, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully plated. The accompanying sides of sautéed broccoli and grilled zucchini were properly portioned, with the zucchini sliced just thick enough to retain its texture and flavor. When deciding between the Makaronia Me Kima, Basil Pesto, Galazio Special Carbonara, and Pastitsio, I deferred to the waiter’s recommendation. Without hesitation, he pointed to the Pastitsio, a choice that paid off. Comforting and familiar, it’s a dish many have enjoyed in different forms without necessarily knowing its proper name. The portion was generous enough to leave me with leftovers, which made for an excellent lunch the following day. Dessert brought the evening to a high note with the Greek Chocolate Mousse Cake. Lighter than expected, it avoided the density often associated with chocolate desserts while still delivering richness and satisfaction. The portion was ample and easily shareable. Overall, it was a very good dining experience, welcoming, flavorful, and largely well-executed. One small disappointment, however, came in the form of a missed detail. When booking, the reservation notes requested acknowledgment of my GF’s birthday, not a complimentary dessert or special treatment, just a simple candle to mark the occasion. Unfortunately, it went unnoticed. It’s a minor thing in the grand scheme, but one that matters in moments meant to be remembered. Had I known it wouldn’t be honored, I would have brought a candle myself. That aside, the experience was still a positive one. I would recommend the restaurant and expect to return. With just a bit more attention to the finer details, it could easily elevate itself from good to truly memorable.”
“My husband took me to Galazio's for valentine's day. This was probably the most over priced meal that wasn't worth it I have ever had. WORST Valentine's Day Dinner ever... For $125 a person, you each got an appetizer, soup, salad, entrée and dessert. We got the Feta Meli and crab balls... both were good but very small servings. Then for soup.. avgolemono and lobster bisque... the lobster bisque was delicious but the avoglemono had zero flavor. Next, we got the strawberry spinach and caesar salads... both very good but really small (seriously a cup of salad).. the entrées- beef wellington which was very tasty but maybe a little over cooked.. and the lobster ravioli.. there was only 4 ravioli but very delicious... the lobster tail was rock hard and gummy- I am pretty sure it was frozen and then cooked not fresh. Finally, the desserts . The chocolate pot was seriously just chocolate pudding with fancy cream on top.. I got the orange cake, which was the best part of our meal. When we got the bill, it had a mandatory 20% gratuity...which ok fine.. The dagger was that sodas weren't included in the price. For $125 .. seriously you should have included that. For where this restaurant is located... really over priced($350 for the meals no liquor). Will come back on a normal night... but for a holiday... no thanks.”
