Hide & Seek is a Modern restaurant in the Downtown Salt Lake City neighborhood of Salt Lake City.
“This place was such a fun experience from start to finish. It’s a true speakeasy, so we had a little adventure finding it at first. We eventually realized it was tucked inside Bonnie and Clyde’s coffee shop, which made the whole thing feel even more memorable. Mike was our bartender, and he was outstanding. I ordered the Stir Crazy, and the presentation was incredible, complete with orange expressions lit with a torch and a fruit-infused ice cube that made every sip a little different. As it sat, the drink became sweeter and more complex, which made it really enjoyable from beginning to end. They started us with popovers, and they were amazing. For dinner, I had the A5 Wagyu and my wife ordered the prime rib. We also had the char-grilled broccolini and pommes purée, and everything was excellent. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and service were all outstanding. Such a cool vibe and a fantastic night out. We’ll definitely be back.”
“Hide & Seek in Salt Lake City is an absolutely charming spot and a perfect hidden gem for a night out. I loved the atmosphere, a cute speakeasy tucked behind a secret door in a coffee shop, which made the whole experience feel fun, playful, and a little mysterious in the best way. The bartender, Edgar, was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive, and clearly skilled at his craft, which really elevated the experience at the bar. The French 75s were first rate…bright, balanced, and beautifully made, the kind of cocktail you order twice without thinking. We also tried their dessert selection, and the sweets were a real highlight. The peach tart was delicious and comforting, while the brownie baklava was rich, inventive, and deeply satisfying. Together, they rounded out the night perfectly. Between the creative speakeasy setting, Edgar’s excellent service, top-tier French 75s, and standout desserts, Hide & Seek is absolutely a place I’d recommend and one I’d happily return to.”
“EXCEPTIONAL. Absolutely phenomenal dinner at Hide & Seek! Everything from arrival to departing could not have been better. Incredible service, outstanding food and a really amazing overall experience. We came for my wife's birthday dinner and Hide & Seek really came through, she was ecstatic about our dinner! We ordered a handful of the appetizers - 100 layer potato, pork belly, salmon sashimi... all of which were perfectly done. Chef Justin is doing some wonderful things with food! For entrees, my wife's mother had the rockfish and I had planned on taking on their 38 ounce Tomahawk Steak. After hearing the chef's special, I changed my mind. They had a 17 ounce, certified Japanese Wagyu Ribeye available and I couldn't resist. Having just come from Japan a few weeks ago, I've been missing the incredible Wagyu over there - and this one did not disappoint! Perfectly prepared and cooked, the flavor was immaculate, the textures were heavenly, the fat marbling was glorious. It's served with a handful of sauces, I preferred the Cowboy Butter of the 3. But, overall the steak was just perfect by itself. The creme gelato and deconstructed chocolate cake for dessert was incredible as well. We LOVED Hide & Seek and we will most certainly be back to visit again soon! Justin and Paola are doing some wonderful things here at Hide & Seek. This is definitely one of the TOP 3 dinners we've experienced in Utah, highly recommended! Thank you ❤️”
“The food was excellent! Every single thing we tried was superb. The artistry and care they take in preparing the dishes along the unique flavor combos was fantastic. My disappointment was the ambiance. I had read that it was hidden behind a secret door within a book shop, and being a huge book lover that made me even more excited to go. I was looking forward to walking through the books and picking one out. Also, I've done the speakeasy dinner experience in Vegas before so I was expecting a true hidden door that you had to discover. But, what we found instead was a cafe, no bookshop, that as soon as you walk in there's a sign saying "wait to be seated" by one wall of fake books. Then when they take you in it's a tiny square diningroom where the tables are lined up and squished together like sardines. Needless to say I was disappointed when we arrived. Also, they are not fast. We were waiting at least 20 minutes between each course of food. We arrived on time for our reservation at 7:15, they seated us quickly, but then we didn't leave until 9:45. Heads-up they do validate parking. We did not know that so we paid for 2 hours, but got the last 30 minutes validated.”
“I left so severely disappointed by this place. First off, their menu was nothing like the menu they had online which was terrible as there were so many things I wanted to try on that. You can see the menu pictured here. There were only 4 options and zero fish options. The London Popovers were the best thing. I love chicken and caviar, but this chicken was just flat out hard and they tried to make it better by putting a little caviar on it, but I don't think any amount of caviar could have saved how over done that was. The prime rib was good and I really liked the gravy for it as well, but again it didn't really stand out. It was fine. We also ordered charred broccolini and unfortunately that wasn't all that great either. I'm not sure if this was just a special menu or something for a Sunday night, but there was nothing on the website that indicated a special menu for Sunday nights. If we had seen that that would have been the menu, we wouldn't have bothered coming tonight. I really want to give places a second chance, but this place left us so disappointed that I can't see myself coming back. We felt very misled. I don't mind paying money for good food, but this wasn't close to the quality for the price we paid. Really cool atmosphere though and it has a lot of potential if it fixes the food.”
