“Can’t say enough good things about Revel Kitchen and Bar. It’s been on my list of places to try for awhile, so popped in on a whim and was not disappointed. The service was impeccable and all the dishes we tried were so good. We had a hard time choosing what to try and actually didn’t get photos of everything because we just dug in. Not pictured was the shrimp which was fabulous”
“My daughter who recently graduated from college invited us for a Happy Hour at Revel Kitchen and Bar. It’s her treat and wanted us to celebrate her first job. The restaurant is in Danville, in a very cozy small downtown area. The weather was perfect so the area was pretty crowded, especially since there’s some vintage cars parked by the restaurant. Parking wasn’t bad at all, as we were able to find one behind the resturant lot. Normally, we would sit ouside by the street, but given the huge crowd trying to enjoy the vintage cars, we opted to sit inside the resturant for some quietness. There was a football game going on so there was a lot of people in the bar area. Once in a while, it will get loud , but it was a pleasant kind of loudness from people watching the game. Even with the crowd, we got seated right away. Since it was a happy hour, the food and drinks on the HH menu were priced cheaper than normal. For drinks, we ordered a mojito for me, hazy IPA for hubby, Red wine for the adult daughter and Shirley Temple for the minor one. The mojito was pretty refreshing. The mix of fresh mint, rum and lime were perfect. It has a balanced sweetness and mint flavor and the rum wasn’t overpowering so I really appreciate that. The IPA was from Fieldworks, which I think is a Local Brewery in the North California area. My hubby enjoyed it. The Red wine must be good, too, for my daughter had a second round. We ordered a few small plates. The bread of the Avocado Bruschetta was crunchy and the topping was generous and was salted perfectly. The crispy chips with King Salmon Ceviche was also good and for a small plate, the ceviche was a lot, too. We tried the Steak skewers. It came with two and they were soft and seasoned well. For the Wagyu sliders, my hubby requested for medium rare. It was a bit bigger than a normal slider and the patty was also cooked perfectly. We ate some fried bite sized cod fish and garlic fries. We also got the Artisinal Board and halved mussels. Everything we ordered were all appetizing and flavorful but our top favorites would be these last two. Served with a cocktail sauce and vinegrette, the mussels were soo good, very flavorful, plump and soft. Each one were well cleaned, doesn’t have that fish smell and melts in your mouth, we ended up ordering four dozens. The Artisinal board came with varieties of cheeses, honeyed walnut, strawberry jam and sweet apricot. You got to buy the trio to enjoy all these. The server was very attentive and checked on us just enough without disturbing our family time. She constantly refills the water bottle and clears empty plates and brought us some extra bread since the board still got a lot of cheeses left. Overall, she was amazing. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.”
“Had an amazing lunch at Revel Kitchen and Bar! The chicken biscuit sandwich was crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor — definitely a must-try. The fries were fresh and well-seasoned, and the chicken club was just as impressive. Also loved the grilled chicken salad — super fresh and topped with sweet corn and feta, perfect for a lighter option.”
“I stopped in to treat myself to lunch and ordered the lentil soup. It was cold, flavorless, and just plain disappointing. Lentil soup is one of the simplest comfort foods out there and somehow they got it wrong. I came in looking for a little pick me up and left regretting the stop. One star.”
“I’ve given Revel multiple chances over the years, but the menu feels completely stagnant. The food leans heavily on truffle oil as a culinary crutch and ‘upscale gastropub’ presentation without much actual creativity or flavor development. Items like the steak bavette and chicken sliders have been around forever, and nothing about the menu feels fresh or inspired anymore. The atmosphere tries very hard to feel trendy and exclusive, but the food itself is surprisingly mediocre for the price point. Danville has far more interesting dining options at this point.”
