“Absolutely loved my experience at Republic Cantina! The fajitas were packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and came out sizzling hot. The margaritas were easily some of the best I’ve had — fresh, strong, and super refreshing. Great food, great drinks, and an awesome atmosphere. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to!”

“Brunch was amazing! Fresh squeezed orange juice and this egg skillet with amazing tortillas were so good. Thought the service was average and the patio wasn’t amazing. But the food was so great that I’d go back and sit inside. Great cure to a hangover.”

“We have been to Republic Cantina many times. Good Tex-Mex in DC is slim pickings, but Republic makes it their speciality. Their brisket is amazing. It made my Tex-Mex Monte Cristo a delicious choice for brunch, paired nicely with freshly-made black iced tea served with a side of lime. I have been there for dinner as well. The service is average. There is a dining room but the sidewalk patio is nice, although the plants need some care.”

“Ambience The patio was quaint and cute—perfect for a relaxed Saturday morning bite. Although the dining room was closed early for a private event, the outdoor space offered a nice atmosphere to still enjoy our meal. Service Service overall was solid. When we first arrived, the hostess seemed a little unsure about how to handle guests who were willing to wait for patio seating, as the restaurant was adjusting to the private event schedule. Once we were seated, though, our server was absolutely stellar—attentive, friendly, and on point throughout our visit. Food We started with the Cajeta, which is made with goat milk. If you’re not a fan of that distinct goat milk flavor, it may not be for you—but my fiancé loved it, and I thought the oat milk version was delicious. We came mainly for the breakfast tacos. I ordered the potato and egg taco, and I really appreciated that it was served on a flour tortilla (unpopular opinion: I’m not a fan of corn tortillas). The taco overall was a 7/10 it wasn’t super flavorful but keep in mind I didn’t have any meat that would’ve heightened the flavor. We also shared the chips and salsa, which were fantastic—the chips were thin, perfectly salted, and paired nicely with the fresh, flavorful salsa.”

“As a Texan, who misses Texas frequently, I have mixed feelings here. The atmosphere inside is nice, authentic, and relaxed but the patio is lack luster at best. But the bathroom, entrance, bar, booths, etc are very well done. The service is good, but a bit impersonal but they are knowledgeable and accommodating. Owner is a UT alum and clearly passionate about the whole operation. Now; the food. The flavors are there, but some of the execution falls a bit flat. The Caesar has flood flavors but the sourdough croutons are a bit too sour. The tostadas are flavorful and fresh, but the actually tostada (the fried tortilla) was wet and soggy. Fajitas might be a bit pricey but at least they don’t skimp on peppers, onions, or meat. Frito pie is a 👍 Now the thing that REALLY got me was, the frozen marg were double shot sized. I have drank literally thousands of frozen margs. I LOVE frozen margs, like top 5 item on any food wishlist. I was in shock seeing how small they were. Maybe tops 6 oz of liquid. Mind you, half the liquid should be blended ice essentially. It was half the size of an on the rocks marg. I had to ask if it was meant to be that way. No mad, just disappointed. ☹️ 🤘🏼 Will definitely go more, because I appreciate the mission and effort, but will just drink water.”
