“This was our first stop of the day, and what a way to start. Set on a gorgeous estate with beautiful grounds and a centuries-old manor on site, this winery immediately makes an impression before you even step inside. We arrived right as they opened on a holiday Monday, and it was a pleasure to see them open and welcoming guests so early in the day. Being the first ones there gave us the unexpected bonus of a quieter, more personal experience at the counter. While it wasn’t formally a private tasting, it certainly felt that way, and the wine master took the time to walk us through the selections with warmth and genuine hospitality. The wines were incredibly enjoyable, with several unique offerings that you don’t often find in the Virginia wine scene. Everything we tasted was thoughtful, well-crafted, and memorable. It’s easy to imagine how stunning this place must be in the warmer summer months, but even on this visit, the experience stood out. A beautiful setting, excellent wines, and hospitality that truly made us feel welcome. An all-around fantastic stop and a place well worth seeking out.”

“I have been here once before. I had my wine inside the manor while i had a tour. That was a pleasant experience. Yesterday i went again but went to the tasting room instead. I did not appreciate the experience. The bartender was an older, tall white gentleman. I arrived at the bar first. I told him what i wanted. He served four white people who arrived after me, and then did not serve me, and completely ignored me. My friend arrived shortly after (also white female) who finally decided what she wanted. In the meantime, I told the guy a second time what i want. He then apologized saying he thought i was paying with my friend, took my money and then yet i am not served. He has my friend pay for her order too, and then serves her first before me. Finally i got my order. I normally do not notice or point out race but this was blatant disregard to me and special preference to others. Is it because of my race or ethnicity? I do not know. But it left a bad taste in my mouth. I guess being a war veteran doesn’t matter either. I hope they treat the customers more fairly in the future or i will not be back.”
