Originally named Walden, our restaurant began as a supper club. For one year, we hosted twelve new guests in our home every weekend. From across our table, stories were shared, strangers became unlikely friends, and we had the rare and unique privilege of participating in what felt, at its best, like the most memorable of dinner parties. Now, we welcome guests to our restaurant just as we once welcomed them to our home. The setting has become slightly more formal in appearance, but the service remains personalized, approachable, and authentic. Our food is tiny and fancy, but our team and our approach, decidedly, are not. After spending the equivalent time at our Walden that Thoreau did at his, we felt it was time to fondly depart the woods in favor of our next adventure, and we will be reopening in 2026 with a new, much more personal title. We warmly invite you to read the story behind both First Son as well as our pastry pop-up, Little Table, and explore our history in addition to our current and upcoming offerings: www.firstson.com We very much look forward to welcoming you soon.
“This was a fabulous experience for my husband and I. We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a special curated menu created around my allergies. Gabriella and her team are kind, meticulous, and open to all who dine with them. Sitting at a chef's counter, observing the flow of plating and cooking was very unique. A ten course tasting menu with panache. If you are lucky enough to secure a reservation you will have a wonderful evening ( best to email in advance any food allergies) . They also have a bakery on Sundays from 9-11am ( or until sold out) of the most delectable and authentic French pastries. Thank you First Son for a truly memorable evening!”
“This is definitely a splurge, but worth it for the experience. Amazingly creative and beautifully presented tasting menu, using mostly locally farmed and foraged sources. We loved it all! The atmosphere was welcoming and surprisingly unstuffy.”
“We’ll be daydreaming about this meal for a long time coming. Someone get Chef Gabriella a Michelin, or two or three. This place exceeded our expectations of what food can be and taste like. Each dish was a masterpiece- thank you for the amazing hospitality, this is one for the books!”
“Had the most incredible chef's counter tasting menu experience this weekend celebrating a birthday! Chef Gabriella personalized the experience to a T and truly made the evening something special! The staff was both professional but extremely approachable and always happy to chat throughout the course of the menu and explain the process of making each dish. Each dish was a piece of art and tasted even better! Highly recommend a dinner at First Son and must come back in the morning for pastries at Little Table for the end to end experience! We will be back without a doubt to see how the menu evolves!”
“My wife and I had dinner here for our first wedding anniversary and it was truly exceptional in every way. For context, my wife is a food snob while I have the pallate refinement of a garbage can. Both of us found the entire evening to be absolutely incredible, 100% worth the money, and will certainly be coming back to celebrate with Walden in the future. All of the staff knew our names, why we were there, and went to great lengths to help us feel celebrated, including flowers, personalized notes, and a customized vegetarian menu for myself. The ambiance was elegant and inviting. Gabriella and her team struck the perfect balance of professionalism and warmth. She was incredibly knowledgeable but also conversational in the most natural, unforced way, making us feel welcome while still giving us our privacy throughout the evening. We also particularly enjoyed getting to see her teach her team and seeing them work together. We highly recommend sitting at the chef’s counter if you get the chance, you won’t be disappointed.”
