Gold Ridge Organic Farms was founded by farmer Brooke Hazen in 2000 in the the western hills above Sebastopol, where coastal breezes create ideal growing conditions for 88 acres of organically farmed olives, heirloom apples and citrus. We grow and mill four olive oil blends (Tuscan, Picholine, Arbequina, Minerva) and 21 olive cultivars on our estate. All of our organic olive oils are milled on-site within hours of harvest for the highest medicinal quality, maximum freshness, and best flavors. Visit us at goldridgeorganicfarms.com
“The Ficholine olive oil is bold and grassy. We also got the apple cider balsamic and it's fantastic. Today they had tours on a tractor and a vendor selling woodfore Neapolitan stlye pizza.”
“Brooke Hazen gave a tour of his farm, was very knowledgeable and patient with all the questions people asked. At the end of the tour we were given a sample of ice cream, olive oil, balsamic vinegar and apple tasting. A must see!”
“Our private olive tasting at Gold Ridge Organic Farms was an unforgettable experience. We were thoroughly impressed by the educational aspect of the tasting, where we learned about various olive varieties and their distinct flavors. It was also our first time trying an apple balsamic, which was absolutely delightful. The setting couldn’t have been more perfect—the view of the property is simply gorgeous, making the experience even more special. Our host was lovely, guiding us through the tasting with warmth and expertise. It’s clear why Gold Ridge Organic Farms has won so many awards. The quality and care that go into their products are evident in every taste. We’re already looking forward to returning in the winter for the Olio Nuovo. Highly recommend!”
“We went to the tasting event in the beginning of October, 2022, the Taste of Fall. First we had a small tour with the owner who showed us around some olive trees and talked a bit about how farm works, what kinds of apples they grow, etc. Then we had olive oil tasting experience paired with bread and some snacks. It was really interesting, the tour guide was explaining the difference between flavors, how oil is made, etc. We also tasted apple vinegar and sauce and those were amazing. For the second part of the tasting we were offered cheeses paired with apples. There was a lot of appetizers offered on the side - nuts, dried fruit, crackers, more apples and pears. Really nice selection of delicious foods and great experience. It's a bit sad that we can't buy particular kinds of apples and can only purchase two kings of cheeses out of seven offered for tasting. The farm is working on making those foods available for purchase. It's cool how they offer you fruit picked on the day of tasting. They allow their fruit fully ripen on the trees, and because of that the flavor is rich. Some are sweet, some tart, some are crispy. They have nice variety of apples and ship only a limited selection to the stores because not all fruit can survive transportation. We found the place through Google, because we really liked their apples purchased at Whole Foods. It was a great experience, we particularly like apple sauce and their olive oil with kumquat. Everyone at the farm was attentive and kind. You can tell that they are really trying to make your experience pleasant. Definitely would recommend going there for a tour if you can schedule it or you can just buy stuff at their store.”
“We have been to gold ridge on several occasions for classes and to make purchases at their store. Our experience had always been very positive and we have recommended it to many of our friends. I have On our most recent visit, we felt completely ignored by the staff. The staff were unhelpful and made us feel unwelcome. We asked to try the newly released olive oil and were told to make an appointment for a tasting, for a fee. There are other local olive oil producers and we will look to them next time. Very disappointing.”
