“Nanam was recommended to us by a Filipino friend who is a regular — and it absolutely delivered on both authenticity and service. This is a very late review, but one I’ve always meant to write after such a memorable experience. From the moment we arrived for lunch, the atmosphere struck a perfect balance between modern chic and unmistakable Filipino warmth. The space feels elevated without losing the soul of the cuisine it represents. The cocktails were also very well made and complemented the meal beautifully. We opted to have a tasting-style experience so we could try a range of dishes — and every plate that arrived was visually stunning, thoughtfully portioned, and packed with flavour that genuinely exceeded our expectations. The taste, the presentation, and the soul of each dish made it unmistakably clear that this food was prepared with real love and intention. Standout dishes included the Ceviche – fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The Spring Rolls – perfectly crisp with great texture. The Wagyu Longganisa – rich, savoury, and indulgent. The Gambas Ajillo – with an absolutely divine sauce My husband had the Grilled Wagyu Picanha and thoroughly enjoyed it. The true showstopper for me was the Lechon! Moist on the inside, perfectly crispy on the outside, and unbelievably satisfying — it’s genuinely worth visiting for this one dish alone. Dessert was equally impressive — a collaboration with Giapo that more than lived up to the hype. The presentation was stunning and it rounded out the experience perfectly. To top it all off, the service was exceptional — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The chef even came out to say hello, which added such a personal touch. All in all, a five-star lunch and a restaurant that more than lives up to its reputation.”
“Anyone who wants to taste Filipino causine then please give this a try. As a Filo, Nanam didn’t just made me feel at home with their food and interior, it’s more of the warmth and hospitality of their staff. At that point the food itself just became a bonus for me. But speaking about their food, when they say try the wagyu tacos, you must do cuz it’s really good, highly suggested I must say. For their mains we tried the beef cheeks, sizzling sisig, and roasted crispy pork belly which we can recommend as well. Lucky that I celebrated my birthday here as they just gave me a free dessert as their treat which is very nice of them and it was tasty and good as well. Not being biased but this Filo restaurant is a must-visit. We’re from Papakura and we’ll definitely coming back. Best Filo causine that we tried here in Auckland.”
“Our first meal in Auckland during our most recent trip and we felt so spoiled by the hospitality of the staff, from front to kitchen. Met the amazing crew and met owners Chef Jess and Andrew. We loved everything we ordered and the bonus dishes from the kitchen including the cake! The place is unapologetically Filipino, from the interior to the food. Classic flavours reinvented with local Aotearoa produce. Love the ambience and so proud to see the place filled with locals on a weeknight!”
“No wonder why this place is part of Top 100 Auckland Iconic eats, the food is amazing, it is giving fine dining vibe but affordable price for sure. The Wagyu sausage is a must try with the tortillas, everything is a flavour bomb! Check out their paella and live music Wednesday, the vibe was so good. Highly highly recommend”
“Disappointing service, especially for the price. No one greeted us or offered water — we had to go to the bar to ask. We were only given a drinks menu and had to request the food menu separately, even though we were there to eat. I ordered the market fish but was never told what type of fish it was, while the table next to us received an explanation. No one checked on us during the meal. My boyfriend waited about 10 minutes for a Coke after waving multiple times to get attention. We also waited over 15 minutes to order dessert, but no one came until we were ready to pay. One dish we ordered never arrived and was only removed from the bill after we pointed it out. the service was far below expectations and not reflective of the prices charged😇”
