Pennyroyal Farm is a goat and sheep dairy, creamery, and vineyard located at the entrance to Anderson Valley. Our estate wines and handmade cheeses are produced entirely from what we grow on our regenerative farm, maximizing the symbiotic relationships of diversified crops and animal husbandry while utilizing a mix of traditional and modern techniques. The Farm is open for tasting and purchases of wine, cheese, and more Monday - Sunday! We are not requiring tasting reservations for groups of 4 or less. Farm Tour reservations are recommended as space is limited and only hosted at specific times. If you know which of our wines and cheeses you love and are just interested in sippin'n'snackin, we have a few tables available, first-come-first-serve (outside food is not permitted). Our Farm Fare menu is available daily with limited specials on select weekends. Have a group larger than 4 persons? Contact our tasting room at 707-895-2410 or info@pennyroyalfarm.com for information about our current large group policy. Please do not make multiple reservations for your group. “Beautiful property worth a stop for travelers transitting between the Bay Area and Mendocino coast, especially if you're traveling with a furry friend, as all of the outdoor covered patio seating & lawn seating is pet-friendly. For libations & sustenance, I highly recommend the smorgasbord instead of the cheese pairing option for the wine tasting. The spread easily feeds 3-4 as a brunch and showcases all of Pennyroyal's cheeses. Stop by the goat pen out front to feed & pet them, they're friendly and like attention!”
“What a beautiful farm tour and tasting experience! My mom and I had a great time led by our kind and knowledgeable guide, Christina. She taught us so much about how the vineyard and farm animals are integrated and we got to taste the beautiful results at the end. We were so grateful for how generous the winery was with our tasting, it was such great value and the cheese was marvelous! We ended up buying some to share with friends. This place is a gem.”
“Loved our stopover here, and would love to come back for a farm tour. We stopped by on Memorial Day after our weekend in Mendocino. Our kids loved feeding the goats, and our charcuterie board was just amazing; the wine was also great. Would recommend and will try to plan another trip in the next year so we can come back.”
“We had a great experience visiting this farm during our trip to Mendocino. The tour takes you through the property, where you get to see the animals up close while hearing interesting stories along the way. The visit ends with a tasting of three types of wines along with a selection of their specialty cheeses, which was a lovely touch. I don’t drink alcohol, so I asked if they had a non-alcoholic option—and they happily accommodated me. To my surprise, they served fresh, farm-made grape juice instead of store-bought juice, which made the experience even more special. Overall, the experience was absolutely worth the money and something I would definitely recommend.”
“What a hidden gem in California. Paniroyal Farm in Boonville is a wonderful experience from start to finish. We didn’t have a reservation and arrived just after 10:30 in the morning, which is their usual time for guided tours, and they still welcomed us with open arms. The staff is friendly, kind, and made us feel very welcome. The tour was fantastic. We explored the farm, vineyard, and facility, got to interact with the sheep and goats, saw the chickens, and visited the creamery where they make their cheese. The guide was exceptional, very informative, and made the experience fun and engaging. At the end of the tour, we enjoyed a cheese board paired with three of their wines, Pinot Noir, Rosé, and Sauvignon Blanc. The cheeses were outstanding, some of the best goat cheeses I have ever tasted. When we asked to try the blueberry cheese, they happily gave us small samples at no extra cost. For anyone who does not drink alcohol, they offer juice pairings instead of wine. These are the grape juices used to make the wine before fermentation, so you are tasting the wine in its natural state, which was a very thoughtful option. The facility is clean and well-maintained, and the experience costs only thirty dollars per person. Compared to similar experiences in Napa or Sonoma, this is extremely reasonable. We also bought some locally made jams to take home. Overall, it was an amazing experience. The staff is wonderful, the tour is informative and fun, and the food and wine or juice is excellent. Highly recommend booking in advance, especially during busy seasons.”
