“Absolutely one of the standouts of our annual holiday visit to California. We were members of Zenaida (now Pius) 10yrs ago and we loved the face lift, sophistication, and most notably Victoria who was inviting, knowledgeable and attentive. “Pius Estates is still under renovation but open for business. This is the old Zenaida winery. The new owner/winemaker Anthony Versochi -- let's call him "The Other Anthony" in the region -- ripped out the old vines and planted new ones when he purchased the 30 acre property about 3 years ago. For now, he's been sourcing fruit from the region to make his wines. A local winemaker friend suggested I go, said the wines are "banging" and I happen to agree 100%. As a level 4 somm, I am a bit of a snob and rarely praise Paso Robles wines that much. But these are cellar worthy, extremely balanced, elegant wines. Ranging from $45 -$100/bottle there is quite an array of wines to choose from. The tasting room has an ultra lounge vibe and will likely become a very popular, must have a reservation type of place... especially when they start serving food next year. Our waitress was lovely. She only started 3 weeks ago and this is her first winery job so she has plenty to learn about wines and wine making, but she was polite and gracious and understands customer service. This is a MUST when in Paso Robles. I look forward to taking many friends to this winery.”
