“Amazing Celebration Experience at JOEY! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had an absolutely incredible meal at JOEY! The food was beautifully presented and delicious from start to finish. We loved the crispy chicken katsu noodles, the perfectly seared sea bass, and the stunning tuna avocado salad. For dessert, the baked Alaska was a total showstopper, and they went above and beyond with a gorgeous, custom "Happy Birthday" creme brûlée plate that made the night extra special. What truly elevated the evening, though, was the spectacular hospitality. Our server, Hannah, was incredibly attentive, warm, and fast, ensuring we had everything we needed. The manager, Chloe, also stopped by our table to check in on us, making us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. Fantastic food, stunning presentation, and top-tier service. We will definitely be back!”
“I had an absolutely fantastic experience at Joey La Jolla tonight. From the moment we walked in, the hospitality was on point—a warm welcome with drinks, and food that arrived HOT. And I mean actually hot. Not “restaurant hot” where it’s been sitting under a heat lamp contemplating life for 20 minutes. Real hot. Kudos to the kitchen. The food was delicious, fresh, and exactly what you hope for when you go out to eat. This might be the first time where I’ve actually finished my meal. No crumbs left behind, mmkay. Now for the real MVP: Taylor… TAYLOR Z. to be exact. Her service was flawless along with her menu recommendations (listen to her & get the butter cake). She somehow mastered the art of being there exactly when we needed something and nowhere to be found when we were busy stuffing our faces. Friendly, attentive, funny, and genuinely kind. Give that girl a raise. We got bang bang chicken, truffle fries, chilean sea bass, steak & lobster pasta and the butter cake.”
“I’ll start by saying that if you read my other reviews, you know that customer service is everything to me. I honestly thought JOEY was just going to be another "bougie" spot, but wow, they completely exceeded expectations. We came here to celebrate my nephew’s birthday, and it was a fantastic experience - so much so that I’ll be returning soon! Our server, Chloe Buono, was phenomenal. I have to call her out first because she was amazing, helpful, attentive, and literally every positive adjective you can think of. The entire staff is just so nice, from the moment you walk in and are greeted by the hosts, who look great wearing all green. The decor is so on point. It’s located right by Din Tai Fung and Javier's, and while I didn't think it was going to be that big, it is actually quite spacious inside. The outside waiting area is so nice and cozy, and they even serve you champagne while you wait. The fire pit and blankets were a bonus to me - since I’m always cold! Of course, we started with the waiting-area champagne, but we also ordered the Spicy Passionfruit Margarita and ended up getting three of them because it was such a super delicious drink. As for the food, I honestly couldn’t decide what I liked/LOVED the most. The Szechuan chicken lettuce wraps were so flavorful. The truffle parmesan fries were yum - I just love fries! The spaghetti pomodoro was delicious, and the truffle udon carbonara with the added katsu was so, so good. We also got the tomahawk steak to share. Note that it takes about 45 minutes, as a proper steak should, it was cooked to absolute perfection. I don’t know why other restaurants struggle to get this right, but this place got it right! We even saved room for dessert and tried 2 things. The butter cake and the apple pie were both delicious, and the apples in the pie were done perfectly. I forgot about this egg roll dish with some sort of cream inside that was super delicious! I am 100% coming back to try the rest of the menu. Any special occasion, or honestly just any chance I get, I am coming here.”
“My husband took me to Joey in La Jolla to celebrate finishing 75 Hard, and WOW--I had heard great things, but I was completely blown away. The food was incredible, but what truly made the evening unforgettable was the customer service. Our waitress, Ursula, asked if we were celebrating anything, so I shared that I had just completed 75 Hard. Throughout the evening, Ursula, Mady (the manager), and Taylor went above and beyond to make us feel special. They made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant--something I have honestly never experienced before. The sweetest moment came at the end of the night when they surprised me with a dessert that had "Congrats 75 Hard" written on it. Who does that? It wasn't a birthday, anniversary, or engagement--just a personal accomplishment they took the time to recognize. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to me, and I may have gotten a little emotional. Thank you for making my celebration so memorable. As for the food: Crab Dip: 8/10 Truffle Udon Carbonara with Chicken Katsu: 1000/10 (seriously, AMAZING!) Butter Cake: 8/10 Crème Brûlée Cheesecake: 10/10 Thank you again to Ursula, Mady, and Taylor for creating such a memorable experience. Amazing food, exceptional service, and attention to detail that is hard to find these days. I can't wait to come back!”
“As a first-time visitor of Joey’s, I must say that I was more than satisfied with every aspect of this location—from checking in to my reservation down to the payment process. Upon check-in, my party and I were kindly greeted by the hostesses and given complimentary drinks while we waited for our table (which didn’t take long). We were seated at a lovely booth, swiftly followed by one of the waitresses taking our drink orders and they were absolutely delicious—I ordered a second one. Our appetizers, entrees, and desserts were served, for lack of a better phrase, perfectly timed from the time we ordered them and everything tasted ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! I would also highly recommend getting the buttercake. The service was outstanding! I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever experienced such kindness, attentiveness, and awareness in a restaurant—and I’ve been to many. That was definitely a huge addition to mine and my party’s overall experience. When asked if my party and I were celebrating anything, we just mentioned how we were there to celebrate the end of the school year—nothing huge and we weren’t expecting anything, so it came as a welcome surprise when our dessert plates had a little note on them, and that really tied the evening together. It’s safe to say that this has been my best dining experience ever and I more than look forward to the day that I go back (which will be very soon).”
