“I really liked this place! It was such a fun lunch spot to celebrate my friend being pregnant. As random as that may sound, this place provided that kind of ambiance that was a destination feel. Everything we had was very delicious, & full of color. The reason why I did not give the food a five star was because I felt that the guacamole lacked a tiny bit of salt and the portion of the pickled veggies was larger than the portion of guac itself. I understand the prices and don’t mind paying, but it felt very skimpy for what it was. The beverages were so delicious. I personally had the watermelon juice and the green juice and love them both. We also has the Aguachile, chicken and beef fajitas for the table. For three of us, we were able to eat all that and feel very full and satiated. As I mentioned, we were there to celebrate my friend being pregnant, and the server was so kind enough to give us these nonalcoholic celebration shots. She also brought over some churros, which we were very grateful for and really appreciated. The touch she gave. Service was phenomenal. Everything was great and I highly recommend coming to this place.”
“Was invited back by the manager, Antonio, and could not be more appreciative of our experience. He was so kind, came to our table twice and the food and service were exceptional. Maggie, our waitress, was the best! She was on top of it and so pleasant. The food was flavorful and for the first time experienced their dessert..omg the flaming crepes were so delicious. Top notch lunch from start to finish!”
“The food was absolutely immaculate. Tuna crudo was fresh and pristine, the queso was fantastic, and fajitas were some of the best I've had. Drinks were all incredible as well. However, the overall service was not impressive. Tony, our waiter, was lovely, however I had indicated it was my wife's 35th birthday and there wasn't even a word about it at check in or dinner. The restaurant literally never answered their phone when I tried to adjust the dates for the reservation (left 4 voicemails and not 1 call back). Finally, the atmosphere was honestly bad. The restaurant was astoundingly loud and we couldn't hear each other speak. But the food and location nevertheless make it worth visiting.”
“La Piscina, located in the beautiful and eclectic Austin Proper Hotel, offers a stunning rooftop setting that makes for a memorable brunch experience. Our group of four was seated on their patio, which was both picturesque and comfortable in temperature. We were welcomed with freshly made tortilla chips and two house salsas, which set a strong first impression. The cocktails were equally impressive - creative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented. That said, service was inconsistent. It took about 20 minutes to receive our drinks after ordering them, and after they arrived, we didn’t see our server again for another 20 minutes. As a result, we didn’t place our food order until roughly 45 minutes after being seated. It seemed like our server may have been having an off day. Once ordered, the food arrived promptly and it absolutely delivered. While La Piscina is known for its sizzling fajitas (which we’d definitely recommend), the standout for us was the gulf snapper aguachile -- savory, bright, and incredibly refreshing. The pastry basket was another highlight, with baked goods that were moist and just the right level of sweet. A couple of notes for future diners: table space on the patio tables is fairly tight, especially when sharing dishes like fajitas, which made things feel a bit cramped. Additionally, despite the hotel’s website noting a partnership with MML Hospitality, MML gift cards are no longer accepted. We had called ahead to confirm and were still surprised to learn this upon trying to pay our bill. Overall, La Piscina shines in ambiance and food quality, but the service and a few logistical details left room for improvement.”
“I read the reviews before I went and was really hoping some of them weren’t true. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the portions did not justify the price. The fajitas were $50, yet they came with only about 4 ounces of meat and what seemed like far more cheese than anything else. The quality and quantity simply didn’t match the cost. I gave it 2 stars because the appetizers were decent, but overall, the experience did not meet my expectations.”
