“In town for a concert and stumbled across Southern Bistro and had a fantastic dinner. Started off with the warm rolls with chive butter. I had the hangar steak and my wife the trout. Both excellent and cook perfectly. My wife said the trout wasn’t overly seasoned and cooked just right. We decided to get dessert and OMG! The caramel pound cake is to die for. Whatever you do make room for this dessert. Service was excellent!”
“Southern Bistro prepared a plate of good Southern fried chicken features a piece with an incredibly crisp, golden-brown crust that shatters to reveal tender, juicy, and well-seasoned meat. It is perfectly complemented by a generous serving of fluffy, rich, and creamy mashed potatoes, often served hot and savory brown gravy on the side. Green beans and deviled eggs where very good also.”
“This was our 2nd brunch visit and it didn’t live up to the first. Some of the issue was service - coffee only got refilled when asked and a refill on creamer wasn’t offered, iced tea wasn’t refilled. The food was ok. Both Benedict plates were tried were flavorful as were the cheese grits. The deluxe French toast was a few pieces of basic French toast, an egg, and a few pieces of bacon. Nothing fancy. The chilaquiles were my main issue - on the dry side and made with reheated chicken. When I didn’t eat more than a few bites and mentioned to the server that the chicken tasted reheated, she made said nothing, so I guess that’s how they usually make them. Disappointing but okay overall. We may try Bistro one more time for dinner before ruling them out.”
“Dined at Southern Bistro for lunch. We ordered shrimp & grits and grilled salmon. Both entrees were excellent. Unfortunately, I ordered a slice of caramel pound cake to go which was a bit dry. Service started out great, but slowed down once our plates were removed. We waited about 15 minutes to order dessert and request the check.”
“I leave reviews regularly, both positive and negative, and unfortunately this experience stood out for the wrong reasons. My family and I visited on Mother’s Day expecting a welcoming and professional atmosphere, but the service we received from Corrine felt noticeably cold and dismissive compared to the treatment other tables around us were receiving. Multiple nearby tables were greeted warmly, engaged with enthusiastically, and walked through specials, while our table received minimal interaction and a very different level of energy from the start. What made the experience particularly uncomfortable was not just the lack of attentiveness, but the obvious contrast in warmth and engagement. It created an atmosphere that felt biased and disrespectful rather than simply inconsistent service. I addressed the issue directly with management. While the manager was apologetic and stated he would speak with Corrine, her immediate response of “it’s my last day” felt dismissive rather than accountable. Mother’s Day should not leave customers feeling emotionally uncomfortable or unwelcome. Professionalism, consistency, and equitable treatment matter, and unfortunately this experience failed in those areas.eave reviews regularly, both positive and negative, and unfortunately this experience stood out for the wrong reasons. Professionalism, consistency, and equitable treatment matter, and unfortunately this experience failed in those areas. Now, this woman created a hostile environment in front of my children. It’s very pretentious, the atmosphere for no reason. If you’re black, I would not recommend clearly she felt comfortable disrespecting black women while working. I wonder what would condone the behavior. Lastly, when we were there it was not busy. We were her only table outside on the patio.”
