Reservations are released on the first of the month at 10am for the following month's availability."This eatery from Chefs/owners Phillip Frankland Lee and Margarita Kallas-Lee is no ordinary omakase spot. The nigiri are not just supremely finessed but also infused with original touches—like the dab of sweet corn “pudding” and sourdough breadcrumbs that coat slices of hamachi. Even traditional pairings become transcendent with his house-fermented soy sauce. The iconoclastic vibe extends to the...More
“Pasta bar is one of the best restaurant in Encino. Tasting menu every dish have unique tast . Great service”
“Worth all the hype it gets. If you’re choosing between this location and the city location in LA I prefer the valley one as the vibes are better and I felt the experience was better as well. Huge thanks to the entire team for making this such an enjoyable night. One of my favorite spots, will be back.”
“Great, unique, chef-curated sushi. Fun, tasty & informative. Very exclusive experience (have to ring the doorbell to be allowed in). A little pricey for sushi & drinks, but great for a special occasion. This was my second time at this location. Will definitely be back. Highly recommend. Each private seating caters to 10 people at a time. Their Japanese whiskeys are really really good. Advance reservations are required. We booked our date 6 months in advance. An unforgettable sushi dining experience.”
“We dined once at the original Scratch Bar and once at Pasta Bar and this was our first time at Sushi Bar by Scratch and it did not disappoint. Yes, it is very expensive, but like Pasta Bar, you get an intimate culinary experience with outstanding dishes and pairings. There are only 10 diners at the sushi bar and we were lucky that the couple to the right and left of us were very social and down to earth, making the whole experience that much better. All the staff were fantastic. Professional, but not stuffy and very personable and attentive. The food was delicious and artfully presented. The drink and sake pairing were great as well. Great experience overall and I would recommend it for a splurge or special occasion meal. Keep up the great work Scratch restaurants!”
“I am writing to share my disappointment following our recent dining experience at your restaurant. While I want to start by saying that the sushi itself was truly excellent, the overall experience was deeply affected by the behavior of your manager, Grace. Throughout the evening, her attitude toward us felt dismissive, disrespectful, and unwelcoming. Instead of enhancing the experience, she made it difficult for us to relax and enjoy what should have been a special night. Considering that our bill amounted to several thousand dollars, we expected a level of service that matches the quality of your food and reputation. Unfortunately, her behavior fell far below acceptable standards and left us feeling uncomfortable and undervalued as guests. It is especially disappointing when such high-quality cuisine is paired with poor hospitality. A dining experience is not just about the food — it is about how guests are treated. At this level, there should be professionalism, warmth, and respect. Frankly, it may be time to ensure that your sushi chefs — and overall team — have genuine exposure to authentic sushi culture, including experience in Japan, so that both the food and the service reflect the standard your brand aims to represent. I hope you take this feedback seriously and address the issue, as the potential for an outstanding experience is clearly there.”
