“I’m hesitant to tell people about Ab Astris because, frankly, I’d rather keep it to myself. But you deserve to experience it. Go. Drink the wine. Wander the vineyard. Sit on the patio. Talk to the staff. Veronica is one incredible tasting room manager and she and her staff will do everything to make sure you enjoy your experience. Places like this are becoming increasingly rare in Texas, and it won’t stay undiscovered for long. Skip the cookie-cutter winery tours and visit one of the best family-run wineries in Texas-making some of the best wine in the state, and yes, some of the best wine in America. The tour I brought from Houston yesterday loved it. Seriously. Join their club while you still can. Future you will thank you.”

“LOVE this winery! So fun, great wine, knowledgeable staff, quiet & peaceful, tries to keep loud drunk bachelorette parties off by themselves so you can enjoy the beautiful day. The charcuterie was tasty. Also the live musician (bond fusion music) was amazing. Just overall amazing experience.”

“The best winery we’ve found in the area. It really is all about the wine for them and not the tourism industry that surrounds hill country wineries. We came on a Friday afternoon at 4:00. We were graciously offered samples of what interested us and we decided to get a couple of glasses of wine and chatted with the staff. They were very friendly and engaging and ultimately we decided to become members of their wine club and purchased 6 bottles of their Cabernet, Tannat and Avignon. Their wines are fabulous and we had a wonderful time.”

“AB Astris is one of the best wineries in Texas! They have a vast array of single varietals and blends…whites, reds and rosé available. One thing my husband and I enjoy is that they don’t release their wines too early. They age them properly for an appropriate amount of time to ensure that what they release is another fantastic vintage! We tend to collect the same variety year after year and do verticals to discover how the wines have changed over time. Another wonderful quality about this winery is that they are family friendly. They welcome children of all ages as well as the family pet (on a leash). They regularly have great musical guests to set the tone for a fun, relaxing afternoon where the children can run and play freely. Anytime we encounter someone visiting Fredericksburg who has not been to AB Astris, we encourage them to step over to Stonewall and try out this amazing Winery. We not only love the wine, we love the family and the property. They have many special events throughout the year…some private some public, but each and every one of them is a joy to attend. We joined their wine club back in 2018 and are impressed each year with every new release! I encourage everyone reading this review to give them the opportunity to offer you a sample of some of their award-winning wines!”

“This winery came highly recommended by another spot, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The patio is beautiful with a relaxing vibe and an amazing view — the perfect place to unwind and enjoy great wine. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and made the experience even better with their thoughtful recommendations. As red wine lovers, our favorites were the Tempranillo, Cab Franc, and Dextra — each one was delicious and well crafted. Don’t sleep on this winery… it’s an absolute must-try! 🍷”
