“This place was so amazing and fast! Our server Olive was great and attentive! We got the croquettas, ham and cheese sandwhiches, the shrimp, and patatas bravas as tapas to share that came out super fast and then the seafood paella to share. lastly the olive oil cake and strawberry cheesecake. It was affordable between four people and it was an amazing dinner. Thank you Olive and the manager for making it a great night!”
“What a special evening! When making reservations for me and my 16 year old son, I mentioned that he is considering culinary school and I wanted to introduce him to a variety of different dishes. The staff went all out making him feel special! Brought out dishes for him to try, the server talked about his culinary schooling at Johnson & Wales and the manager even stopped by to shake my son’s hand and encourage him! We will always remember this evening - thank you so much Barcelona - you are TOP NOTCH!”
“I had been craving a good Branzino for my birthday, and my cousin suggested this spot. To drink, I ordered the Tea Time cocktail. I personally didn’t love the taste, but my cousin enjoyed it and ended up finishing it. We started with several tapas: Sautéed Mushrooms, Tuna Crudo, Sea Scallops, Spiced Beef Empanadas, Flank Steak, and Gambas al Ajillo. I don’t eat red meat so I didn’t try everything, but the Tuna Crudo was perfect (tuna is my favorite) and the gambas al ajillo shrimp were very flavorful. The mushrooms had an unusual taste, and the carrot purée with the scallops had a slightly soapy flavor that we didn’t enjoy. For my main dish, I ordered the Whole Roasted Branzino. As a Caribbean girl, I expected “whole” to mean the fish would be served intact with the head. Instead, the head had been removed and the kitchen attempted to debone it. Unfortunately, there were still quite a few bones, so I kept getting poked with them while eating, which made it a little confusing since it was supposed to be deboned. Our waitress explained they assumed that’s how I wanted it prepared and apologized for not confirming first. The manager also came over and offered to remake it, which I appreciated, but I decided to keep it. I finished with the Olive Oil Cake. I enjoyed the flavor, although ironically it was a bit too oily for my taste. Overall, the staff were very apologetic and thoughtful, which I appreciated. There were a few hits and misses, but the service and effort to make things right stood out.”
“Barcelona Wine Bar delivers a strong overall experience, especially if you appreciate a well-curated wine program. What really stood out was our server, Spencer—he was exceptionally knowledgeable and clearly passionate about wine. His recommendations were spot-on and elevated the entire meal, making it feel much more personalized and thoughtful than your typical dining experience. The atmosphere was lively and inviting, with a great energy that makes it a solid choice for a night out. The food was good overall—well-prepared and flavorful—but the menu felt somewhat limited, especially if you’re looking for a wider range of options or more variety across courses. That said, the standout service and wine expertise more than made up for it. If you go, definitely lean on the staff for wine guidance—they know their stuff.”
“Had a fantastic dinner this evening. Menu was easy to read and understand and waitress was very knowledgeable. The food was well seasoned and was enough to share! It was quite dark in the restaurant although it is the atmosphere they are going for it was dark reading the menu. All servers were very attentive and professional. I would definitely recommend stoping by for dinner when visiting charlotte”
