“We’ve gone a couple times for happy hour but this was our first time for a full meal. We were completely blown away! All the tapas were so yummy and the paella and branzino were fantastic. “We visited Barcelona Wine Bar on a Saturday night and were immediately blown away with the atmosphere and staff. We had a little bit of a wait for our table which was entirely on us as we arrived with more people than our original reservation indicated. Nonetheless, the staff and manager made us feel incredibly comfortable and accommodated, they even gave us some options for seating and complimentary drinks while we waited- truly above and beyond service. On to the food- it was EXCELLENT. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The portions are generous. We ordered several tapas including the: patatas, calamari, albondigas, hummus, empanadas, steak and mussels. We had so much fun trying all of the tapas and had plenty to pass around for our group. We also ordered the Branzino from the Large Plates section which was outstanding (seriously even folks in our group who do not like fish enjoyed it and were initially drawn in by how delicious it smelled when it arrived). For drinks we had the Sangrias and Prosecco. All wonderful as well. Overall this is a must try when in Philly. I’ve been to other locations of Barcelona Wine Bar but this is hands down the best. The entire team was so knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations for us. Special shoutout to Malcolm, you are truly the best, thank you for such a memorable experience.”

“Listen this used to be my absolute FAV dinner spot in Philly I would go with my dad all the time I’ve been going for ab 6 years now since pre covid so I know what I like and I remember very distinctly why I like what I like. I went for my birthday and I haven’t been in a couple of years so I had very high hopes- I missed it! I know it’s a chain so I don’t know if the decline in food quality has anything to do with their expansion (I don’t even know if they’ve been expanding) or if it’s just a recession indicator but I was DIS UH POINTED! My favorite proteins used to be the octopus and the hangar steak, neither of which are available on the menu anymore. I felt the protein options for tapas were lacking and did not stand up to what they used to be. Additionally, I love the hummus and the patatas bravas. The hummus was my greatest sadness. It used to just be a plain hummus with a little paprika (?something red idk for sure) served with fried pita bread triangles that were SOOOOOO good. Now it is some sort of red hummus I’m assuming roasted red pepper which is btw my least favorite type of hummus served with some sort of thin cracker. CRACKERS!!! I was so sad when they brought it out not to mention I’m sure the price in the dish has gone up over the years while there is obviously a steep decile in quality. The patatas bravas were the closest to what I remember but still just lacking. They used to be fried perfectly golden crispy, almost more like a French fry texture and now they are closer to a plain roasted potato, skin left on. I was really so disappointed in the food not to say it was bad but this used to be my FAV spot in Philly and I was just let down by how the quality has really gone down since the last time I had been there. However, the wine was bomb and my server was absolutely fantastic and gave me a free loaf of bread for my birthday so that really saved the experience. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be returning”
