“I'm always looking for a nice place to hangout and draw, I'm not from the area but this place is close to my partners house so I gave it a try and the pastries are AMAZING I love the chocolate croissants and the Danish, if I want a little more to eat I recommend the Monte Cristo, the coffee is great I normally get a super basic iced latte but it's great either way! The staff is super kind, Liz is who helps me most often and she is super sweet and makes great coffee. Vibes are great too, great place to hang out 10/10 always recommend this place to friends and family”

“I highly recommend visiting this place at least once if you want to eat just normal cookies like chocolate chip or peanut butter as well as if you would like to taste something very specific like marzipan pastries, semlor or  white chocolate mousse with strawberry coulis. Thank you for bringing the rich traditions of Scandinavian baking to Seattle! You definitely made Seattle more special, unique and international! Also, always nice and friendly service!”

“Got the cardamom coffee, the princess cake, and a butternut squash savory pastry. Princess cake was really great! Never tried marzipan before and not sure if it’s it for me (too sweet) but the cake in the inside was amazing! Not too sweet, soft, and moist! The butter nut squash danish was so great! Better than expected. Cardamom coffee was good but not amazing. Would definitely come again.”

“I used to love this bakery, but after this experience, I don't think we'll ever be back. We placed an order and, after getting to our car, realized we were missing three small chocolate cakes that we had paid for. They're only $1.99 each, but that's not the point. I went back inside and explained the situation to the employee. Instead of simply helping, she immediately made me feel as though she thought I was lying. She told me she had fewer cakes in the case than before, and I responded that I still didn't have the cakes we had purchased. She eventually packaged three cakes for me, but one of them was broken even though there were other intact cakes available. As she handed me the bag, she loudly said, "If you find the other ones..." I replied that I would gladly bring them back if I did. She then announced, in front of other customers, "Well, these are on the house." That was incredibly embarrassing. My family and I were not looking for anything for free. Her comments made it seem as though I was trying to get free pastries, which was not the case at all. We had simply not received part of the order we paid for. We were traveling to visit our daughter at Seattle Pacific University, and when we got home to Vancouver, I searched our entire car to make absolutely sure there hadn't been a mistake on our end. The cakes were nowhere to be found. Because of an employee's mistake, I was treated with suspicion, given a broken replacement cake, and made to feel like a liar and a thief in front of other customers. The whole experience was disappointing and upsetting. The owner did reach out to me. He stated the employee use the wrong words and that Liz reached out to him right after the incident. The problem is she didn't use the wrong words the moment I said to her I don't have my cakes she looked in the case and said there are fewer in the case. Basically letting me know that she had already given them to me. It wasn't a poor choice of words she thought I had my cakes. Unfortunately, we won't be back”

“I was visiting Seattle from Hawaii and since a child, my favorite cake has always been a Sweedish Princess cake. Since I can't get this in Hawaii, I looked up to see if there was a location in Seattle. I found Byen Bakeri and with my son, wife and I who also really like this cake, we drove 17 miles excited to get one. We arrived and instead of purchasing slices, we decided to buy an entire cake which cost $60. I asked the employee if they could cut the cake for us and to my surprise got a "No, we dont do that". I then asked if they could get me a knife and I got "No but there are plastic knives in the corner". Finally, I asked if they had any plates since we were eating the cake while at the shop and again I was told "No, but there are napkins over there" I 2as extremely disappointed but my wife went ahead and cut the cake with a plastic knife. We ate the cake and I was extremely disappointed in the cake. It was very dry almost like the cake had been sitting for a while even a few days. A good Pricess cake has moist cake with raspberry filling and this was very dry. The Marzipan was okay but also a little tough. Anyways, I was disappointed and only ate 1 slice. We ended up throwing half of the cake away. Maybe it was just a bad day at this location from the service to the cake and we wont be going there again when we travel there in a few months.”
