Calico is a neighborhood restaurant centered on thoughtful sophistication. Our philosophy is simple: focus on doing just a handful of things, and do those things extremely well. Our menu changes seasonally, based on our partnerships with local farms and vendors, and is inspired by cuisine from around the world. Simply put, we cook the food we like to eat. We have missed cooking for the fine folks of the Pioneer Valley and we are thrilled and honored to be here!
“Trendy restaurant specializing in fried chicken, but virtually everything else on the menu is also amazing. The bar is also excellent. Try the slaw there, it's vinaigrette-based and refreshing.”
“This instantly became my favorite date night restaurant in the area. I had the lamb and phyllo parcels and beef cheek & broccoli and both were two of the best dishes I've ever had. The cocktails were delicious, and the pacing of drinks/starters/entrees was perfectly timed. Our waitress checked in frequently but without interrupting and was extremely friendly, polite, and helpful. Atmosphere was intimate but not tight. Conversational volume and dim lighting. Has a bar and works for casual or dressier nights out. Expect $12-14 for cocktails, $15 for apps, and $25-40 for entrees.”
“Favorite restaurant in the NE by far - everything they serve is always absolutely delicious and perfection. Above that their staff is amazing! They always have the most welcoming and sweet servers and bartenders. Having amazing food is one thing but having people who make everyone feel welcomed is rare and puts this place above so many others. We are so glad you are in the area and provide such amazing food and experience.”
“Everyone says their fried chicken is fantastic, and it is. The house salad was also hearty and delicious. Sat in the bar area and had a lovely server. Cocktails were spot on, wine list was good, the soup was beautiful and delicious. My only complaint is the brief menu. Just one of the three main dishes appealed to me, and there was no vegetarian entree, so that will likely limit how often I come back. Otherwise, a lovely evening meal.”
“Went for Valentines Day with my girlfriend. We were seated in the basement, pretty basic ambiance and decor, pretentious vibes immediately within entering. We wanted to sit next to each other rather than facing face to face to be closer. The host came over and gave us an excuse saying we can’t get by you need to move back, there was no blocking of any kind. Now for the food. Really underwhelming, dated and boring food, almost sad really. Chex Mix Furikake that we could have made at home. Lamb Parcels that tasted frozen with no flavor or proper seasoning. House Salad with lack of ingredients stated like bleu cheese, squash and pepitas and lack of proper seasoning. Last but not least the Fried Chicken I hear everyone raving about that was the most basic boring Fried Chicken ever with no seasoning or flavor. I’m a chef I know food, and this place is not it at all. You cannot trust the reviews a lot of the times and this is a clear case of that.”
