“Thompson is one of the best spots for pasta and Italian in Alexandria. We’ve come three times now and each time we have enjoyed our visit. The food is great and the ambiance is charming. Service is usually very good but we have encountered an inattentive waitstaff on one occasion where we had to hunt down the waiter for our check. However, that alone was an outlier of otherwise great visits.”

The setting is attractive and relaxed and the menu sports a variety of Italian dishes. It’s the kitchen that’s the real star at this restaurant, turning out wonderfully creative dishes that are delicious and beautifully presented. Thompson’s Italian is worth a trip to savor amazing Italian cuisine in a relaxed, yet romantic atmosphere. I cannot wait to return.”

“The cocktails menu is out of the world! Ossy is the cocktail curator that has inspiration behind every drink she design and you can taste her passion she has for the craft of creating artisan cocktails in every sip you take! Ossy's cocktails are works of art that taste as amazing as they look. Evey time a new menu comes out I am so excited to go and get the experience of trying her new works of art. She always tells me the inspiration behind each drink. I travel alot and always look for the top artisan cocktail bars in every new city, Thompson Italian is by far my favorite of any city I have been to. I honestly believe that she could compete in cocktail compitions with her drinks. Oh and I almost forgot to add they have happy hour EVERY DAY from 5-6 where you can enjoy any of the cocktails for $10. The food is delicious also and changes seasonally. The fried artichokes are incredible and the mango tapioca pudding is so good you might give up your first born to get more of it (yes the tapioca is that amazing). I have tried 2 of their vegetarian pastas and they were both delicious. They also have week night specials Monday you can get any pasta and a glass of wine for $35. Tuesday is lasagna. Wed is chicken parm. Thursday is $10 olive oil martini all night. If dining in make a reservation, I always sit at the bar! I am telling you I can not speak highly enough of the artisan cocktails that Ossy has curated!”

“My husband and I had a nice time sitting at the bar. The meatballs were excellent, the fish was interesting presentation, the gnocchi a bit chewy. Olive oil dessert cake was super good as was the complimentary sorbet.”
