“Absolutely perfect. Hostess greeted us with a smile. Our server, Bonnie, was very pleasant and knowledgeable about all menu items. And the food was culinary perfection. My husband is a very picky eater and enjoyed the house made bbq sauce so much he asked to take some home. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, and comfortable. The open brick and exposed ductwork provides the perfect backdrop.”
“Great restaurant. The shrimp cocktail was the biggest shrimp I've ever had, and were delicious. The tenderloin was amazing, as well. Highly recommend!!!”
“Didn't have a wait, but it had snowed & everyone was probably hibernating. Ordered an espresso martini & the Chicken & Waffle...other pics are from the others at the table. Was very good & Bobby was very attentive.”
“EVERYTHING was fantastic! Our wait person, Meghan, was so friendly and very attentive. The wine was great. Very tasty salad with roasted pears and nuts. The beef medallions were cooked to perfection. And the dessert? Out of this 🌎!!! Chocolate Pot De Creme.”
“We have been going to the Common Grill for over 25 years. We recently went to an early dinner around 5:30 for my birthday dinner. This was the first time we did not recognize any of the staff, it was a Wednesday. We were seated at a two top by the window, which we like. Our server was fine but not the friendly servers we normally get. My husband ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Fettuccine $43 and the Caesar Salad $15 (arrived with one Anchovies), I ordered the Shrimp & Lobster Fettuccine and the Tuscan Pear Salad $15. When our salads arrived, I was shocked. My salad consisted of the yellow core to lettuce, caramelize pears, candied walnuts, blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette. Both salads were not the normal salads we are used to being served at The Common Grill. I removed all the yellow core to my bread plate and ate the nuts, blue cheese and candied walnuts, and one or two, 2 inch pieces of what I think was bibb lettuce, since we did not see our server. He knew what the salads looked like and served them to us anyway. I told my husband that maybe today was training day......When the server came to clear away the salad plates he asked if he should take the yellow core on the bread plate and I said yes, it is not good. No response from the server. When our entrees arrived, they we hot and delicious but for $43, they were not equal portions. My husbands was to the inside rim and mine below the inside rim of the pasta plates. We could tell right away. They should measure the pasta portions so you are getting your money's worth at least. The pasta, sauce, shrimp and the lobster were good. I am happy that Peas & Carrots went back to the lobster claws as when they first took over, it looked like they were using canned, shredded lobster. They have been using the lobster claws for quite some time now. Good move. We are disappointed in the quality of the salads. The weekend brunch that we go to is OK. Nothing special. When my husband told one of our clients that he took me here for my birthday dinner she said she had heard that the food was going downhill. She is right. If this is the reputation they are getting around the Ann Arbor area, they will not be in business long. I am hoping they will step up. They raised the prices and cut portions and quality. Not a good move. Here is a picture of my salad from December and the lettuce I was recently served. I see online the Tuscan Pear Salad now reads "Mixed Greens" when it used to read Bibb Lettuce, so maybe they just throw in whatever lettuce bits they have in the kitchen, but for $15, neither salad was up to the old standards. (Added the pictures of the pasta, both mixed and not eaten yet to show the size difference.)”
