“I’ve been here twice and both times have been perfect. Somehow the second time tipped the first. Our waiter Kalil (I hope I spelt that right) was excellent today, and extremely quick and polite. I ordered the Grill burger and the spicy salmon bites. My friend ordered the same but also got the Mac and cheese. Everything was top tier, and might be the best burger I’ve ever had! 10/10 experience!”
“Stopped by for lunch and was able to be seated for 2 on the patio right away, although we did have to sit in the sun a little bit. Luckily it was not too hot out. Our service was very prompt. Ordered the lobster roll with a side Caesar. The Caesar was a little small but the lobster roll was very good. Lots of lobster, well seasoned. I spend a lot of time in Maine eating lobster rolls and I was happy to eat this one. The fries were also delicious. Ordered the cheesecake for dessert, which was also very tasty and beautifully presented. I would definitely come back here. My only suggestion would be to invest in maybe an awning that covers the whole patio area.”
“My friend and I had a wonderful experience - we ordered burgers and they were perfect! We substituted fries for green beans and mushrooms and absolutely loved them. Our drinks were served promptly and food was served quickly. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. Lovely ambiance, too. I look forward to being back!”
“The Grill offers a very good menu and it is the place to go for steak at the Wharf. We enjoyed our meal there. The New York strip was a very good cut and it was grilled correctly. However it did have too much butter. This is not a situation at the Grill, it is a situation in nine out of 10 American steakhouses, but the Grill goes beyond that to offer very nice appetizers, fabulous salads, and as such is a nice place to go at the Wharf in Washington. Recommended- prices are steakhouse like prices, but I understand they have some special deals during weekdays. Be warned because parking is highway robbery at the Wharf we paid $38 for parking there. The pretzel bread is just convenient, but not really gourmet despite being cooked in the oven again with a ton of butter.. Overall a happy meal nevertheless.”
“I was very disappointed with my experience at The Grill. While we were seated quickly, the service throughout the meal was extremely poor. Our waitress took an unusually long time just to get our drink orders, brought out random plates (only some people at the table received them), and then finally took our food order. We had ordered appetizers (crab deviled eggs and fried calamari) but for some reason these didn’t arrive until the main meals came out, nearly 25 minutes later. To make matters worse, my wife’s meal was completely forgotten and had to be brought out separately after the rest of us were already eating. The food itself was underwhelming. The chicken sandwich lacked flavor and felt incomplete. I ordered a burger that came with an odd sweet spread that did not work at all. My son did enjoy his Caesar salad, but the lobster roll was practically inedible. No one at the table could eat it and I contemplated sending it back through by this pointed I just wanted to hurry up and leave. The only highlight of the meal was the herb French fries, which were actually quite good. The service did not improve as the meal went on. The waitress only returned to our table once (to bring my wife’s late meal) and after that, we waited an unnecessarily long time for our check. I am not sure that the check was correct or not but after over an hour and 15 minutes I was ready to leave. The atmosphere was great though and I enjoyed the decor and vibe of the place, however, that was about it. Overall, between the poor service, multiple mistakes, and disappointing food, this was not a positive dining experience. With so many excellent restaurants in Washington, D.C., I would recommend trying somewhere else.”
