“I had a wonderful evening at a special event and a very luxurious stay in one of there soerate guesthouses. I will be coming back.”
“Hofke van Bazel is one of those rare places that gets everything right. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed with genuine warmth that immediately puts you at ease. The atmosphere is calm and refined without ever feeling stiff, exactly what you want for a truly enjoyable dining experience. The team deserves special mention: attentive, knowledgeable, and effortlessly friendly. They strike that perfect balance between professionalism and personality. And then there’s the food… honestly, it feels like there’s a magician in the kitchen. Every dish is creative, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor that genuinely surprises you. It’s the kind of meal that stays on your mind long after you leave. Set in stunning surroundings, Hofke van Bazel is more than a restaurant, it’s an experience. Highly recommended if you appreciate exceptional cuisine paired with a serene, welcoming vibe.”
“We chose this beautiful restaurant which located in the nature with fresh air around for a significant celebration, and we had a wonderful evening here. We arrived and returned to the Antwerp city by taxi, I would say convenient transportation. The location is great, we took a walk around the beautiful water before dinner, there was a lot to see around. The interior design here is pretty, perfect for celebration and important moments. For the food, I like their colorful placing :) Fresh ingredients , balanced seasoning with layered flavors. Plus, great service, they also provide non alcoholic paring with the menu. And accept our adjustment for the food allergy ingredients.”
“Celebrated a birthday at Hofke van Bazel and while the food was exquisite, the service detracted from the experience. To start, I wrote in the reservation that I would be celebrating my birthday, even added for the first time in Belgium, when I made the reservation several months ago. There was no recognition of it whatsoever - not when we were welcomed, not during the meal, not even writing on the dessert plate and there was no complimentary anything offered. Quite the opposite- we were surprised when we received the bill that included a menu price per person that differed from the posted menu on the Hofke van Bazel menu and worst of all an extra €78 for an optional starter that was never communicated as optional when we were told the menu upon our arrival. We were told the langostine ravioli was the chef’s speciality… not that that the one ravioli included an extra fee. The menu was €125 per person plus the €78 for the optional course that was not explicitly stated plus water plus apperitivo and plus one glass of wine per person totaling €418. The meal lasted 4.5 hours. We started with finger food in the underground wine cellar where we were given a 30 page wine menu to look at that had only wine bottles in it - never shown a wine by the glass menu prices. Tables that came in more than an hour after us appeared to be rushed to catch up so everyone left the restaurant at the same time. The dining room was beautifully decorated for the holidays however a radio station playing Christmas songs at a higher than medium volume days after Christmas became annoying, the loud volume and songs took away from the truly divine food that was served. And to top it off, this was the first time at a Michelin Star restaurant that a dog was also inside and treated as a welcomed guest - servers bringing it water and snacks. The Hofke van Bazel had a charming garden in the back where it is possible to host events and there are even rooms available for lodging. Its location is in a cute little village that is next to a mini castle. And again, the food is clearly the reason the Hofke van Bazel received a Michelin Star - days later, still thinking about the flavor combinations and even the plating. It is unfortunate that the service was not at a quality comparable to the food.”
