A natural wine focused restaurant with a full bar, Bar Etoile features farmers market driven, seasonal cuisine with a French lean.
“There are restaurants that serve dinner… and then there are restaurants that completely transport you. ✨ Bar Etoile feels less like dining in Los Angeles and more like stumbling into the kind of impossibly perfect neighborhood bistro you spend your entire Paris trip trying to find. Every single dish we ordered was phenomenal. The rotisserie chicken was pure magic — impossibly juicy with perfectly crisped skin that honestly deserves its own Michelin star. The bread disappeared almost instantly because it was THAT good. The fish was delicate, fresh, and beautifully balanced, while the steak tartare was one of the best versions I’ve had anywhere: rich, flavorful, and absolutely addictive. And then came dessert… a chocolate masterpiece that nearly caused a fight at the table over the last bite. Decadent, silky, unforgettable. The kind of dessert that makes you immediately start planning your next reservation before you’ve even paid the bill. The entire experience — from the warm glowing atmosphere to the thoughtful service and incredible wine program — felt effortlessly cool without a trace of pretension. Just stunning food, amazing energy, and the kind of meal you’ll still be talking about days later. Bar Etoile isn’t just one of the best meals I’ve had in LA — it’s one of the best dining experiences I’ve had anywhere. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
“Came for wine and snacks before a bigger dinner, but I’d love to come back for a full meal because what we had was so good. Highly recommend the Caesar tartare (perfect crunch to the bread, plus it is pre-cut into bite size chunks) and lobster rilette. Cute vibe inside with center bar and cozy dining room seating.”
“Bar Etoile was A great experience we had dinner at the bar that im definitely begining to be a fan of you feel a bit more involved somehow and well you can get drinks faster as well if thats your thing and we'll its definitely mine. The atmosphere was fun but not loud, with a good elevated vibe. The central bar is a nice touch thoughtfully designed rather than overly expansive, with a limited cocktail selection aparrntly but a nice little coctail menu that felt well curated. The bartender was attentive and genuinely helpful, offering great menu and wine recommendations. The food was exciting and well executed. The menu works perfectly for sharing, making it easy to order several small plates and experience a range of flavors. Every dish felt intentional and memorable with strong roots in classical French but not restrained by it. I will definitely return and definitely sit at the bar again and try everything else on the menu.”
“Great spot with creative offerings and an incredible wine list. Service was very welcoming and friendly and they were very accommodating when we got stuck in traffic and we were a little late for our reservation. My only critique would be they would benefit from serving coffee cocktails for dessert. There was a fancy espresso machine, and all the ingredients to make an espresso martini, but when we asked about one for dessert they said they’re more wine focused, which made sense and I’m a wine nerd myself, but half the bar was drinking regular martinis which was a little confusing.”
“i never write reviews for restaurants but i just had to for this one because I hope no one else wastes their money here. The food was the worst I’ve had in LA. Service was very bad too. Pretty restaurant but go if you want to ruin your night with bad food”
