Hugo's Bar and Grill is a New American restaurant in the Montpelier neighborhood of Montpelier.
“There’s something for everyone at this restaurant and yet all the dishes have a little unique flare. We absolutely love the mushroom Pappardelle, kimchi grilled cheese, Carrots over lebnah, And they have excellent fries. Some of the best food in Vermont right now”
“We were staying at a nearby hotel and wanted a night cap so we do decided to venture here as we seem they had live entertainment. We were quickly greeted by the bartender who made us forget all about the entertainment upstairs, he poured a good drink and had great recommendations for the area and the sights. We had a few rounds with him and had a great time, he really made our experience in Montpelier. If you are looking for a nice spot to catch a drink and maybe some live entertainment when you are in the area, this is a great spot.”
“We had an absolutely awesome time having dinner here! After dinner we went upstairs to their really cool lounge area with live music. I would really love to come back here again! The chicken sandwich was delicious as was the burger!”
“Been coming here since before they were at this location. But the other night absolutely topped it. Came with my daughter on a Tuesday when Jack was behind the bar. We had excellent cocktails, excellent conversation with Jack and Tom and the other bar patrons. My daughter ordered the steak frites which I’ve never had here - they were extremely flavorful and cooked just the way she ordered - med rare. I had the fried calamari which was nice and delicate and included the tentacles- my favorite. She had a blast. It was a great evening out. While we sat inside, the outdoor deck looked really inviting.”
“Hugo's Bar & Grill is one of my favorite spots in Montpelier when I'm looking for a relaxed dinner, drinks, or just a place to unwind. The atmosphere is welcoming, the staff is always friendly, and the overall experience feels comfortable without being overly formal. One thing I appreciate is that while they have a strong seafood presence on the menu, it never feels overwhelming. Even as someone who isn't the biggest seafood fan, I still found plenty of options to enjoy. That being said, the oysters are great, and the calamari is absolutely worth ordering. The cocktails are also a highlight. Whether you're stopping in for a drink or pairing one with dinner, they consistently do a great job. My favorite part of the restaurant is the outdoor patio area in the back. During the spring and summer, it's one of the nicest places to sit in Montpelier. It feels tucked away from the busier parts of town, making it a great place to relax, catch up with friends, or enjoy a meal outside without feeling crowded or overwhelmed. Like any popular restaurant, it gets busy during peak dining hours, but that's usually a sign that they're doing something right. Overall, Hugo's is a great local spot with good food, great drinks, friendly service, and one of the best outdoor dining spaces in town.”
