Fair Haven Oyster Co. is a New American restaurant in the New Haven neighborhood of New Haven.
“Absolutely incredible dining experience by Chef Emily Mignone — hands down some of the best fish we’ve ever had. Perfectly prepared, incredibly fresh, and full of flavor in every bite. You can truly feel the passion, creativity, and attention to detail behind every dish. A memorable meal from start to finish!”
“We had an absolutely amazing experience at Fair Haven Oyster Co. and cannot wait to return. We started with a selection of oysters from the raw bar. All of them were delicious, but the Pearly White was a personal favorite. From there, we had the rose cured salmon. It was floral on the tongue and incredibly balanced by the pistachio and mint. For our main, we had the grilled shrimp over polenta. While the shrimp was grilled to perfection, the polenta was the real star of the show. It was silky smooth with a unique mussel flavor and just the right amount of spice. We couldn’t decide which dessert to get, so we tried both the pot de crème and the date cake. Both were amazing, but the date cake took the crown. We loved everything Chef Emily prepared for us and are already looking forward to our next visit!”
“Came up for a day trip from NYC and had dinner at Fair Haven Oyster Co., and it was outstanding. Great waterfront atmosphere, friendly service, and the food was top notch from start to finish. We started with a few oysters, which were delicious, followed by a clam tartare that ended up being the dish of the night—so much flavor and perfectly executed. For my main, I had the sole stuffed with shrimp and brioche, and it was another winner. Such a great meal in a beautiful setting. I’ll definitely be back”
“Inside the restaurant smelled a bit, but the outside searing was nice. The whole fried dorade was tasty and a good portion too. The pan roasted striped bass was OK and a smaller portion. Grilled oyster mushrooms were great. I think if they had served some bread and butter, while we had our drinks and waiting for food, the dining experience would have significantly improved. The dessert with olive oil wasn’t impressive.”
“⸻ I went to a seafood restaurant and ordered a burger — and I’m glad I did. I visited the Fairhaven Oyster with a group, and since I don’t eat seafood, I was happy to see a hamburger on the menu. The burger and fries were very good. The fries were slightly saltier than I prefer, but still tasty and well-prepared. The burger was cooked exactly to the requested temperature and seasoned nicely, making for a flavorful patty. The bun was toasted, the toppings were fresh, and everything came together well. To complement the burger, I had a Sea Hag draft, a local brew that paired perfectly with my meal. It was a great match — especially for a hamburger enjoyed at a seafood restaurant. The dining area is a bit small, but it was comfortably heated during the cold weather, making for a pleasant experience overall. It wasn’t overly crowded while our group was there, which worked out well since we had five people at a table better suited for four. We made it work, though, and the harbor view added to the atmosphere. The only drawback is that the restaurant can be a little difficult to find. It sits on the edge of a dirt parking lot in a marina, and from the street it doesn’t immediately look like a restaurant. There’s no prominent street sign — just a small sign on the building itself. Parking was ample, but since it’s a dirt lot, potholes could be an issue in bad weather. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for families with small children due to the limited non-seafood options and the tight quarters. However, if you’re looking for a casual spot with a great harbor view — even if you’re ordering a burger at a seafood place — it’s definitely worth a visit.”
