Since 2001, the iconic Clinton St. Baking Co. & Restaurant has grown a devotional worldwide following for its American-eclectic eats on the Lower East Side. Decadent dishes like fluffy pancakes, Mexican eggs benedict, buttermilk fried chicken and grass-fed burgers are cult favorites, washed down with spicy bloody Marys, boozy milkshakes and craft beer. Husband and wife owners are Chef Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman. They use local products from purveyors they know and trust including sustainable coffee, premium ice cream, cage free poultry & eggs, and heritage pork. Almost everything on the menu is made in-house using classic, traditional techniques from raspberry jam and thick brioche to corn tortillas and habanero hot sauce. The restaurant is sunny and bright by day and cozy by night. You’ll feel welcomed by its long time work “family” — some have logged over 15 years on staff. With locations in Japan, Thailand, Singapore and Dubai, Clinton Street has achieved true global fame. And while the lore about its brunch lines are true, dinner is the insider time to visit this spot, when lights are low and the crowds calm. Save room for dessert! All cakes and pies are handmade in small batches on site.
“This was our second time at Clinton St. Baking Company, and it’s officially become a tradition whenever we visit NYC. There are so many amazing places to eat in the city, yet we always make sure to come back—and after this breakfast, we remembered exactly why. The blueberry pancakes are simply the best pancakes I’ve ever had. Perfectly fluffy, buttery, and topped with an incredible warm blueberry sauce that’s absolutely unforgettable. They’re worth planning your morning around. We also had the huevos rancheros, which were outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect savory complement to the pancakes. The coffee was excellent, the service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere is everything you’d hope for from a classic New York breakfast spot. Clinton St. Baking Company isn’t just somewhere we recommend—it’s somewhere we look forward to returning to every single trip. If you’re visiting NYC, don’t miss it. We already can’t wait for our third visit! 🥞🫐☕”
“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Flawless Breakfast at Clinton Street Baking Company! If you are looking for the ultimate comfort food breakfast, this is it. I had an absolutely incredible meal here, and I cannot recommend it enough. The Food Everything we ordered was spectacular. The kitchen serves up incredibly generous and beautifully presented portions. Pancakes with Warm Maple Butter: We ordered these with the wild Maine blueberry topping, and they were a total dream. It's a fluffy, thick stack loaded with fresh, delicious pancakes and a mountain of vibrant blueberries. The signature warm maple butter on the side is pure perfection. We also paired it with a side of Biscuit w/ Butter & Jam, which was flaky and delicious. Fried Chicken & Waffles: This dish featured a perfectly crispy Belgian vanilla buttermilk waffle topped with a cage-free breast drizzled in a sweet and spicy honey-tabasco sauce. It’s served with more of that incredible signature warm maple butter. The chicken was beautifully golden and exceptionally crispy without being heavy. Service & Experience Beyond the fresh, delicious pancakes and waffles, I was blown away by how speedy the service was. Even with a full house, our food arrived quickly, piping hot, and our drinks stayed refilled. An absolute 5 star experience from start to finish. I will definitely be back!”
“Brunch at Clinton St. Baking Company was a really nice experience overall 🥞✨ We tried the blueberry pancakes, French toast, and the coffee with free refills, which was such a fun touch. The food was definitely good and everything matched the expectations for a classic NYC brunch spot. The service was also very friendly, which made the experience even better. That said, I would probably not give it a full five stars, as it didn’t completely blow us away overall - still very solid though. One very important tip: definitely make a reservation. There was already a line outside before opening, and it gets very busy. With our reservation, we could go straight in, which made everything much smoother. Price-wise, it’s pretty standard for New York. Overall a good brunch spot and worth visiting at least once 🥞☕️✨”
“Still don’t know why the pancakes are super popular and everyone says it is a must try. Anyways, I listened them and today I did try. They are tasty ok but not not super. I mean pancake is pancake. Of course some places make horrible pancakes but I had as delicious as this one before. Service is good. People are friendly. Nice New York vibe. I went there on a weekday morning around 9 am so there was no line no wait time. Probably you wait a lot if you go at weekends. $29.40 (without tip) is a bit pricey for pancake since it has no protein nothing but main ingredients flour, sugar etc. I will go back to try other dishes and make another review.”
“Very crowded, wait for a seat (though I went with a regular which made it easier). Old-style booths that are tight for those who are tall (or sitting across with someone tall like I was). Their pancakes - excellent, and they often have different flavors. They have a pancake month in February, I think, where they do new flavors all the time, but our visit in April was still good with cherry and whipped creme on crumbles. Good for sharing. Also liked the biscuits w/ butter to start, too. Quick with refills for water and coffee and clearing unused plates. Good bacon, too. Solid breakfast pick but you could wait. Don't get the salad. The chicken and waffles was just ok... chicken lacked much flavor for me and just reminded me of a big chicken tender.”
