Club Room at Soho Grand Hotel

“We spent Valentine’s Day at the Club Room inside the Soho Grand Hotel, and it was such a memorable night. The prix fixe menu was excellent. The duck prosciutto was so good and flavorful, the roasted rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and tender, and the yuzu tart was bright though a little sweet for my taste. Still a great ending to the meal. Drinks were delicious, we had a whiskey sour and a gin blossom. The live jazz band playing right in front of us made the night feel extra special and intimate. We didn’t realize there would be a cover charge, but honestly, they were worth it. The staff was warm and attentive, the hosts were polished and knowledgeable, and the decor and ambiance were beautiful, cozy, and chic. A wonderful spot for a special occasion”

“After dinner, we went to the lounge, Grand Bar and Salon, but it was full. So the staff suggested we try the Club Room. When we arrived, there were tables open, but the staff told us they could only seat us at the bar stools in the back room and that we would still have to pay a cover charge of $35. We weren’t planning to stay long and especially with no view of the stage, we didn’t think it was worth it. As we were leaving, the staff stopped us and said that if we were only staying any hour (we weren’t even planning to stay that long), that we could sit at the high top in the main room. We’d thought the cover charge would be $70 for the 2 of us, but when we double-checked, they told us it was $35. So we decided to stay and have a drink. The space was so beautiful, perfect for date night. The music was just starting and we enjoyed listening to a couple of songs, saying we would love to come here for dinner sometime so we can fully enjoy the experience. However, when we got the bill, there was a $70 cover charge on it. We asked to speak to the manager, who came over and simply stated that it’s on the website. It was such a lame response considering we hadn’t even looked at their website and especially because one of their staff had just told us it’d be $35 for the 2 of us. We weren’t even there for an hour. We’d thought we’d just found a really cool place for date night and for bringing visitors in town, so their service and response was truly disappointing. My boyfriend paid the $70, but it left a sour taste. I’d expected more of a hotel cocktail bar in Soho. P.S. There were multiple tables closer to the stage (and not by the entrance where we were seated, where people kept on coming in and out), which were open when we arrived, until after we left.”

“I went to soho grand couple weeks ago around 12am on a Saturday and the twig grasshopper guy at the front asked for cover on the side to let me and my friend inside. Or else we had to pay 300 bar tab. He asked for 150$ towards him for us not To pay the 300. I personally think its very unprofessional of him. I dont know his name but its not cool at all, wont be going there anymore. He also said if we are not Beyoncé fans we cant come in. You guys need better night time staff.”

“Absolutely unacceptable service. I spent over $400 on a bar tab and received some of the worst service I’ve experienced. The bartender was on his phone most of the night, barely paying attention to customers, taking forever to acknowledge orders, and acting like helping us was a burden. What made it worse was that it genuinely felt like once the automatic 20% gratuity was guaranteed, there was no effort to actually provide service. Meanwhile, he had no problem giving attentive service to people without bar tabs who were ordering directly at the bar. The difference in treatment was obvious. Because of how slow and inattentive he was, I barely even got through half of what my bar tab was worth. The only times drinks were consistently being made was when the female bartender and the Indian bartender (who both gave genuinely great service) had to tell him to make the drinks. They were clearly carrying the workload while he stood around on his phone. For the amount of money spent, the experience felt disrespectful and extremely unprofessional. Management should seriously look into how customers are being treated once staff thinks their tip is already secured. He claimed his name was Mike, however, i am sure he was lying about it. I have video footage of him actively ignoring me for at least 5 minutes. Which I will eventually post on the socials.”
