“This can be a good option when the downstairs soho diner has a long wait. Similar menu, great views. Very well executed dishes.”
“Grand Bar & Salon at the Soho Grand has become our go to “we’re staying in, but still want a real dinner” spot. We started with the warm bread and truffle fries, and the fries are genuinely to die for, especially if you ask for a side of spicy aioli. I ordered the Caesar and loved it, crispy, fresh, and well dressed, and I was very glad I added extra protein. The chicken was amazing, juicy and flavorful, and the halibut was fresh and genuinely delectable. The kids went for steak and fries and were in heaven, which says a lot because they are not easily impressed. It all feels like elevated comfort food done with intention, not a generic hotel menu. For dessert we shared the New York cheesecake and the toasted almond cake with ice cream. The cheesecake was classic and very good, rich without being over the top, but the almond cake could use some love. It leaned dry, even with the ice cream, and I would skip it next time. The vibe here is one of my favorite parts, low lit, stylish, and relaxed, and the bar is fully stocked if you want a proper cocktail or nightcap. Service is attentive and kind, they check on you often and are great with kids, but the food does take a long time to come out (shoutout to Tsering for great service). As long as you are not in a rush and are happy to linger over drinks and fries, it is a lovely way to end the night when you are staying upstairs.”
“I came here for a birthday celebration on a Monday evening in the summer so it was not super crowded which was wonderful for our small group (there were about 15 of us in attendance). My friend had ordered various charcuterie dishes but we also ordered individually. I was very pleasantly surprised by how well organized it was PLUS the food was delicious. I would definitely consider doing an event here - probably early in the week and early in the evening is best. The staff was wonderful and the ambiance really nice.”
“We booked a slot for 8 for my daughter’s birthday. We pre-ordered food and they swapped out several dishes without letting us know and only agreed to remove half of one item from the bill even though we didn’t want what they brought us. It was a nice vibe but not worth anything close to the $1,000+ we spent for a party of 8.”
“This place is a complete joke. I came here with a few friends tonight at 8pm. We put our name down with a kind lady hostess right when we got there and she said it would be an hour wait. Ok, no problem. We all waited by the lobby. 90 minutes later, past the estimated wait time, we finally got sat. We were all looking at the menu when a man came by and said we had to get up to accommodate a reservation. We told him we had been on a waitlist and he said “oh, never mind, so sorry.” He comes back 5 minutes later with the server and told him his reservation was here, and we had to get up. We told him we had put our name down for 90 minutes, and he said that couldn’t have been possible because they don’t take names. What?!?! We would’ve had no problem going elsewhere if that was the case. Such a waste of time and disgusting customer service. Little do they know I always tip at least 30% and y’all missed out.”
