“Okay so first thing first, I went in thinking this was going to be a cute romantic French bistro. It is NOT that. People were jumping on tables. The music was loud. It was basically a club that also serves really good food. Once I got over the shock of that I had an amazing time. The croque monsieur was so good. Comes out on a wooden board, cheese everywhere, topped with parsley. Just a really fun dish. Also got the hachis parmentier which is basically a French shepherd’s pie and it was super comforting. Braised beef under this golden mashed potato crust. Really solid. Steak tartare with fries was great too, no notes. Cocktails were fun and the whole night had a great energy to it. If you’re looking for a quiet dinner this is not your spot. But if you want good French food and a chaotic fun night out, La Baratin delivers”

“Recommendations- Coq Au Vin, Tarte Tatin. Pommes Frites are fine. Others liked the Burgers and Moules/Mussels. I was at this French bistro a while back with one of the many groups I attend dinners with. The inside was a tad dark, and the people were friendly. I liked the vibe of the spot, with the atmosphere being surprisingly festive, though thankfully, our meal finished before a large group of people came in and made it too loud. To drink, I thought about getting a cocktail, but they have a nice selection of wines, and I got the $18 Sancerre, which was tasty. I skipped an appetizer and went with a main dish and a side. My main was the excellent $36 Coq Au Vin, consisting of a half chicken in a red wine sauce with mushrooms, carrots, pearl onions, bacon, and potato. The chicken was cooked down wonderfully, being fork-tender, and for being half a chicken, the portion was very decent. While not the richest wine sauce, it was still very flavorful without being overly salty, even with the pieces of pork scattered throughout. The rest of the vegetables were also cooked down well, but still retained some texture. My side dish was the $11 Pommes Frites/French Fries, which is also available with parmesan and truffle for $2 more. The portion was generous for a bistro, and they were crispy with enough salt. They were perfectly fine. Other entrees enjoyed included the $27 Salmon Burger, the $25 Le Burger Baratin, one of the mussels, and, I believe, a pasta. My dessert was an outstanding version of Tarte Tatin, listed as a warm apple tart, for $10. There was also some ice cream on the side to pair with the tart. This is easily one of my favorite French desserts, and most places have something wrong with it. It's either too sweet, the apples aren't cooked down enough, or there isn't enough pastry. This had none of these issues, being perfectly prepared. I would recommend it heavily. Not many complaints here. Very tasty main and an excellent dessert with a fun atmosphere. I'd definitely go back.”

“Stopped by here for dinner after a Broadway show and it was not a let down! The escargot was delicious. I ordered Salmon and they were so kind to substitute the cooked veggies with ratatouille instead. Although they forgot to bring out the wine I ordered, all was forgiven because I was too busy enjoying my food! Can't wait to come back here again 👍🏻”

“This is by far my husband and my favorite restaurant we’ve ever been to. Not only do they serve some of the best dishes (appetizers, entrees, desserts and drinks) I’ve ever had in my life, but every single employee at this establishment is welcoming, kind, and treats us like family. Ambience is perfect- cozy and lively. Not sure what the few ridiculous negative reviews are (probably written by professional karens), but we have never had a single experience here that has been less than spectacular. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant more highly!”

“I walked in with my partner around 7pm on a Friday night with no reservation and was seated promptly. The hostess sat us at a table in the front near the bar. The bar area was bustling so it wasn’t the most comfortable seat, but beggars can’t be choosers. The service came over not too long after we sat down and took our drink orders. I elected to go with the le Baratin martini with the twist, which is my typical martini preference. On to food, we ordered the burger and steak frites with an au poive sauce. The burger was a classic thick cut patty with LTO and Brie, would recommend. The steak on the other hand was extremely tough and could have left the faint of heart with lock jaw. It was cooked correctly and the sauce was great but the quality of the beef was lacking. Overall, good service, average food and a decent ambiance. If your walking in at 7pm on a Friday you can do a lot worse.”
