“A real diamond in the rough. The food was amazing and our chef was really funny. I was looking for other habatchi places vs the norm I go to. Im glad I found this place. 20 min into Staten Island from NJ, so it wasnt a bad ride at all. Clean, hospitable and there is parking . The food was seasoned well and the salad was phenomenal. They handled ppl like me with allergens well. That's always a plus. Service was fast, she did forget an item so it had to be cooked in the back. But other than that, my experience deserves another round.”

“This place was fantastic. Came here for a birthday dinner, and the Food was amazing and staff was really friendly and kind. They came out with an fried ice cream dessert 🍨and sang happy birthday and played a happy birthday song which really was going above and beyond. Our chef had a positive attitude and great charisma. Lastly the place was super clean and help bring out there asthetic. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a hibachi place to eat. Overall 10/10”

“Went to dinner here for my daughter's bday, food was great fresh no complaints there. I had the yellowtail appetizer that was good and steak and scallops for entree. Would of gave them 5 stars only issue we had was only 1 person came to sing her happy birthday so don't expect something special for a bday here except free fried icecream for the bday person . Overall I would come bak not for a bday celebration but food and price is worth it”

“The place was nice, ordered lunch special 3 rolls and money punch. Service was attentive and fast but also likely because there was only 1 other customer. Money punch was crispy and good. I guess depending on how you like your sushi rice. But there was barely any of it. Just a reminder to check your receipt if you are getting the 1/2 off appetizers for Wednesday and Thursday. They sometimes forget to take it off.”

“This is a hard review to write, as I have been going to Sakana for years and had mostly positive experiences. The last few times, the food seems to be going downhill. Last visit, we took our toddler and infant for the latter's first restaurant visit. We never had a wait there before, but it was full and we were told 15 minutes. We were next up. We kept checking in, explaining that we had limited time as my wife was nursing and we had to get our kids home to bed. When the prior customers left the table, nobody would go and clean it. We finally sat down 40-45 minutes later and asked if we could try to eat faster so we could get our kids home. They said okay and everything moved at a slow speed. In fact, the table next to us, which sat 10 minutes after us, got their chef 10 minutes before us, even though we and the others at our table ordered right away. The fried rice was crunchy, the tofu did not taste good, and the shrimp tasted unusually fishy. Everything else was very average. I informed the host of all these issues and asked to speak to a manager. No manager would speak to us. We were given a full-price bill, not even a dollar off for our trouble. Incredibly disappointed and we do not want to go back after this.”
