Speedy Romeo takes its name from co-owner Todd Feldman's family champion race horse and situates itself in a 125-year old bar turned liquor store, then auto parts shop in Brooklyn's Clinton Hill. It also churns out exemplary St. Louis-style pies (a rare form for a New York-based pizzeria) alongside complementary apps and mains.
“My husband and I had the best pizza ever! Their Dangerfield pizza is a white sauce pizza well coated with ricotta and basil, with enough pork-beef meatballs scattered with garlic chips to give that out of this world flavour! We also had the wings while watching the Knicks won against the Spurs by one point! Service staff were attentive, food and drinks were great! We had a wonderful time at this family friendly neighbourhood joint in Speedy Romeo!”
“Speedy Romeo’s is such a cute spot for great pizza. The crust has a nice chew without being super thick. Super relaxed environment with great wait staff.”
“As a St. Louis transplant, I’ve spent decades searching for a St. Louis style pizza in NYC to poor success, but everyone pointed to Speedy Romeo as my last, best hope. So, for better or for worse, I’m going to endeavor to compare this pizza to the square beyond compare. The wood-fired crust at Speedy Romeo does not resemble the cracker-thin St. Louis slab, but it sure is tasty. These sauces and toppings feel too high falutin to be found in my favorite St Louis takeout, but, oh, I enjoyed them, too. The cheese- I made sure to order a pizza with provel cheese- the cheese instantly took me back home. It hit the mark and even made me a little homesick. I loved it and will be back soon. In the end, Speedy Romeo felt a little bit like New York, a little bit St. Louis, but it was mostly its own unique and delicious style. I’d recommend it to anyone from the Lou, anyone from the city- anyone at all.”
“Speedy Romeo has some of the best pizza in the city. The crust is just PERFECT. Thin but with enough consistency, crunchy in all the right places… just wow. We order a pizza approximately once a week and are always impressed. We like eating there too - it’s casual and the food is delicious. Good wine and craft beer selection. Their Caesar salad is top notch. Just go and thank me later. 🍕”
“The pizza was pretty good! We ordered the King Salami, and the meat was a little salty, but it was balanced out by the tomato base. The dough was nice and crispy but also airy at the same time. The Caesar salad was pretty refreshing and crispy too! The blood orange gelato was also yummy and the olive oil cake with stracciatella and balsamic + strawberry (?) was alright and not too sweet, but nothing to write home about. The service was great though. A spot I would come back to if I was in the area!”
