Sushi by M is Chef Tim's take on the classic omakase experience with a focus on an intimate, simplistic experience giving each customer and piece the time and attention deserved.
“Amazing! Super tasty, fresh and very creative sushi!! What a great surprise! We were walking by and saw the advertisement for Omikase and thought we’d give it a try. I am so happy we did. We loved the food - I can’t compliment enough!! The service was very friendly, helpful, and fast. The Omikase was amazingly delicious and a great deal. The oysters were the best I’ve had in Manhattan! There were lots of special dishes - we want to try more - and we’ll definitely go back!!”
“Great omakase spot. Chef Kenny was very friendly. I think the $100 one is more worth it with the creamy uni, chuutoro, the appetizers, upgraded versions of the handroll and wagyu uni, etc. Favorite ones in order: 1. Toro sturgeon Caviar (idr why it was my fave but it was amazing.) 2. Wagyu Uni Foie gra (Heavy but the perfect pair of creamy fatty.) 3. Striped Jack Monk Fish (The flavor!) 4. Scallop (always a fave) 5. Uni (super sweet and creamy) 6. Amberjack (The yuzu kosho)”
“One of those rare omakase experiences that stays with you long after the last bite. From the moment you sit down, you can feel the passion behind the counter - the chef is incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making sure every guest has an unforgettable time. The sushi itself is outstanding: precise, beautifully balanced, and thoughtfully paced, making the entire omakase flow effortlessly. What truly set this experience apart, though, was the warmth of the team. Midway through the meal, the chef and staff poured a complimentary sake shot and invited me to cheers together - a small gesture, but one that perfectly captured the spirit of the place. It felt personal, joyful, and refreshingly unpretentious. This is omakase done right: top-quality fish, skilled craftsmanship, and a human touch that elevates everything. Easily one of the best omakase experiences I’ve had in New York. 10/10, wholeheartedly recommended.”
“We did the omakase at Sushi by M and it was an amazing experience. The fish was incredibly fresh and every piece was full of flavor. Nothing felt overdone just really clean, well-executed sushi. The chefs were friendly and made the experience enjoyable without it feeling stiff or formal. The pacing was perfect, and for an omakase in NYC, the quality and value are hard to beat. Would definitely come back and highly recommend it.”
“This was my first time at Sushi by M. Overall, it wasn’t bad. For $100, I think the ingredients were quite good— including caviar, salmon roe, otoro, bluefin tuna, uni, foie gras, and wagyu beef. My favorite dish was the ebi shrimp — it tasted great and had a really nice smoky aroma. The quality of the fish was good overall. However, I wasn’t very impressed with the rice. The texture and flavor of the rice, as well as the sauce brushed on it, weren’t as rich or well-balanced compared to other places I’ve tried. The atmosphere wasn’t as quiet or intimate as another omakase restaurant I’ve been to. The staff were attentive and friendly, though they spoke quite loudly. I understand that might be part of the restaurant’s style. Overall, I would say it was okay.”
