Torien is the sister restaurant to Torishiki in Tokyo, Japan. Known for enhancing traditional Japanese Yakitori into it's most elevated form and present it in a perfect space where customers are the stars and can enjoy a special dining experience using all five of their senses. At Torien we want to share this unique experience in New York City and spread Japanese food culture beyond Japan. Yakitori is a traditional cuisine from ancient times in Japan. It is known to use all the parts of the chicken and serve it in a skewer. The chicken is cooked with binchotan charcoal which enhances its unique flavor. Charcoal has a big role in yakitori and its flavor. At Torien we use the charcoal from Kishu, Japan. This binchotan coats the beautiful fragrance of charcoal on the ingredients. It is known to be the most precious charcoal in the world. We are known to be the only restaurant outside of Japan allowed to use it. Price per person $185.00 * Price does not include taxes and 20% service fees.
“At one of New York’s rare Michelin one-star yakitori restaurants, I was reminded how extraordinary chicken can be. The Welcome Appetizer, Sake Kasu Char Siu was the perfect opening, with rich sake lees aroma complementing the tender, flavorful char siu. Every skewer that followed was exceptional. The Thigh achieved the perfect balance of a beautifully charred exterior and an incredibly juicy, tender interior. The Tail delivered an irresistible richness from its rendered fat, while the Chicken Oyster completely exceeded my expectations—I never imagined chicken could taste this good. The Heart showcased the deep, satisfying flavor of offal without any unpleasant gaminess. What made the experience even more memorable was the professionalism of the entire team. Watching the chef work over the intense heat of the binchotan, carefully grilling each skewer with remarkable precision, was like watching an artist at work. Every course reflected true craftsmanship and genuine hospitality.”
“Incredible date night at Torien! This is easily the best yakitori experience in NYC. The omakase journey was flawless—each skewer was grilled to perfection over binchotan charcoal, with that unmistakable smoky aroma and juicy texture. A few highlights were the chicken oyster and the liver, both were melt-in-your-mouth tender. The atmosphere is intimate, dark, and sophisticated, making it the perfect spot for a special occasion with my girlfriend. The service was impeccable and attentive throughout the night. It truly felt like a piece of Tokyo in the heart of NoHo. Can’t wait to return!”
“The food was outstanding, and this has been one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in NYC so far. The chef and staff are clearly passionate and highly professional, and every dish was exceptional. They serve unique and hard to find items that truly set this place apart in New York. I enjoyed every moment of the experience and will definitely be back. Great job to the entire team!”
“From the second we walked in, the vibe was amazing. Everyone working there was so friendly — you could literally feel the good energy. The small touches made such a difference: everyone personally greeting you, pulling and pushing the chairs, even the chef walking you out when you leave, asking if you need help getting into your Uber. It’s hospitality done right. And the food… insane. Not one bad bite. Everything was so well done. I also loved the open-kitchen omakase setup — watching them cook everything right in front of you made it even cooler. And unlike a lot of omakase spots, I actually left full. Like, genuinely full — in the best way. Also, random shoutout to their ceramics — the plates, bowls, cups… all of it. Super nice and added to the whole aesthetic. Overall just a 10/10 night. Would absolutely go back.”
“We has a warm and heartfelt evening here. Aki was our grill master! Super delicious, juicy and flavorful chicken dishes made with care and precision. Simple but really beautiful food with high quality ingredients. Definitely will be coming back with family next time :)”
