Sushi Masaki Saito is a high-end, traditional sushi omakase restaurant. It is the first and restaurant in Canada with a two Michelin-starred chef. Chef Masaki Saito, raised in Hokkaido and trained in Tokyo, focuses on the purity and source of his ingredients, and showcases his respect for Edomae tradition in evolution with his own unique imagination. Tucked into a cozy Victorian building in Yorkville, Sushi Masaki Saito reveals the tradition and atmosphere of Gion, Kyoto or an Old Edo-style neighbourhood in Tokyo. Every detail serves the aim of authenticity, including a 200-year old Hinoki dining counter imported from Nara, Japan that is surrounded by a harmony of traditional Japanese handcrafted décor and local Ontario marble and limestone.
“All I can say is wow! What a wonderful and intimate experience we had at Sushi Masaki Saito, located in beautiful Yorkville. This place far exceeded our expectations and we were very pleased with the quality of the ingredients and the expertise of the chefs. If you’re looking for a truly unique dining experience I highly recommend this place.”
“Sushi Masaki Saito is simply outstanding. The Omakase experience is exceptional, with every piece of sushi crafted from the freshest fish and premium Niigata rice. The flavors are perfectly balanced, and the presentation is beautiful. The atmosphere is intimate and elegant, just like a traditional Tokyo sushi bar. Service is attentive and informative, making the meal feel personal and special. Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Toronto – worth every penny.”
“Amazing experience! The service and food were both spectacular. I can’t say enough good things and although it maybe expensive, it’s very very good. Definitely worth it! The sake, the sushi, the experience, all things I would go back for. Be sure to check it out when you have the chance!”
“I planned my entire trip from Denver to accommodate dinner at this lovely Michelin two star. It was unlike any other culinary adventure I’d ever partaken in, and I will never forget it. Above and beyond was the theme of the evening from refilling sake to wiping away messes I made while eating. From the very moment that you walk in you are greeted with the most genuine smile. The decompression hallway brings you into a lovely traditional Japanese waiting area. There is clear pride in the experience and offerings. Only sake is available for purchase no beer or wine. Incredibly thankful to have enjoyed this amazing experience. An incredible opportunity to try many kinds of fish.”
“Sushi Masaki Saito is, without question, one of the finest dining experiences I’ve ever had. With a two Michelin star rating and a $600+ per person price tag, expectations were sky-high—and somehow, they were exceeded. Every dish was an expression of precision, beauty, and flavor mastery. Chef Saito’s skill is undeniable—his Edomae-style sushi is executed with such finesse, it borders on spiritual. The pacing, the knife work, the temperature control—every detail is flawless. Service was the best I’ve ever encountered—gracious, intuitive, and deeply knowledgeable. This isn’t just a meal, it’s an experience of craftsmanship at the highest level. Worth every dollar and every second. A rare gem not just in Toronto, but globally.”
