Wildcard Bar is a Japanese inspired cocktail bar hidden on the second floor of a townhouse in Midtown Manhattan. Our seasonal menu features handcrafted cocktails utilizing small batch spirits. Our spirits menu highlights Japanese whiskies and sake. Our décor is reminiscent of Meiji Restoration era Japan with cues from the four seasons throughout the space. Our team's first priority is hospitality and we look forward to having you at Wildcard.
“I’ll be honest: finding this place was a bit of a challenge! Tucked away in a townhouse on 53rd Ave, it’s a true hidden spot, but it is absolutely worth the effort to locate. The design is beautiful - dark, sleek, and incredibly sophisticated with armchairs and sofas, making it very cozy. They offer a variety of Japanese-inspired cocktails and a great sake list. Service was excellent—attentive without being intrusive. If you’re looking for a cozy, upscale vibe for a quiet drink, this is it. Just keep your eyes peeled for the entrance!”
“one of my fave bars in nyc. would highly rec the tokyo sunset if you like sweeter drinks. have been here twice without a res and it has always been a good level of noise but never too packed or loud which is kind of perfect.”
“Great bar for a Friday night. Cocktails are creative and delicious. Favorite was the plum one. Sake is great and goes down smooth. Ambience is beautiful and 10/10 not too loud Recommended to make a reservation - we walked in at 20.00 and decided to reserve for 21.30 - the staff were super nice about it”
“One of the best speakeasy bars I’ve ever been to in the US. The ambiance was amazing it also gave a luxurious vibe. They also have a wide selection of drinks. Each of us got 3 different cocktails and everything was delicious. I would recommend this place to my friends that going to visit New York.”
“We’ve been to Wildcard three times, usually because we’re nearby and want to grab a quick drink. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. They have a strict 1.5-hour time limit at the bar, which we understand and are happy to respect. However, the way the staff enforces it is extremely rude. The first time, the staff was more understanding, but our most recent visit was especially unpleasant. We were a group of five, and the waitress rushed us to order immediately. When she brought our drinks, she spoke very loudly and aggressively, practically yelling out the orders. After four of us received our drinks, she loudly and rudely asked who ordered the last one, even though it was obvious it went to the remaining person. The tone felt impatient, disrespectful, and unnecessary. This same server has been consistently unkind during our visits, and we honestly felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. While we respect time limits, there’s a polite and professional way to communicate, and this was not it. Food and drinks were also underwhelming, which is disappointing for a Japanese-inspired cocktail bar. Between the poor service and average offerings, we won’t be returning , we’d much rather go to the place next door.”
