Perro Salado is a Mexican restaurant in the Downtown neighborhood of Newport.
“We had an awesome experience at Perro Salado. The small tavern-style bar area is incredibly cool and full of character. The restaurant is set inside a beautiful old colonial-style building that feels like it has over a century of history behind it, and the ambiance really adds to the entire experience. It has that perfect Newport feel that makes you want to stay awhile. The location is fantastic as well — right near Thames Street and America's Cup Avenue, making it a perfect stop whether you're out walking downtown or looking for a great dinner spot after exploring the area. The braised beef quesadilla was quite literally the best quesadilla I have ever had in my life. Packed with flavor, cooked perfectly, and something I’ll absolutely be thinking about for a long time. There is a 100% chance that I’ll be going back here again, and it will be very soon. Highly recommend checking this place out if you’re in Newport!”
“Food was really Mexican taste with Proeprty balance of spice and taste staff was very much supportive and friendly”
“This is a cute restaurant in an old historic house. Multiple small rooms, upstairs seating and a bar area with a fireplace. We sat at the bar. The atmosphere was a highlight, but the food and service did not disappoint! Drinks were perfect. Apps (ribs and shishito peppers) and tacos were mouthwatering and fresh. But Peter the bartender really made the dining experience unforgettable. Coming from Long Island, we are not easily impressed. Don't miss out on this place!”
“Very busy on a Friday, but lucked into the last two bar seats at the back bar (once we found it!). Bartender was a younger guy and hilarious and super accommodating to us and all the others just popping back there for a standing cocktail. The drink options and the skill with which they were made were both excellent. The atmosphere itself is super fun, being in a converted house. Reminded us of Lichas Cantina in Austin for that reason. More traditional Mexican than Texmex options which was delightful and the food was amazing. Highly recommend, but don't be surprised if there is a wait.”
“Was hesitant to try Mexican food in Newport but this looked a bit upscale and didn’t disappoint. Unique take on some dishes with a local twist. Clearly fresh ingredients. Chips and salsa and guacamole were a huge portion and delicious. Margaritas were super tasty and came in many flavors. Went with the duck tacos which were stellar but could have used a third taco for that price. Server was great, she was patient and helpful. Would recommend to anyone and it’s obviously popular being so busy on a Tuesday night in late October. I’d say the only downside is the 1% addition to your bill for kitchen staff. I get the message and purpose but why not just pay your staff more rather than forcing your customers to subsidize your payroll?”
