Named after the bird that populates nearly every port along the ancient maritime spice routes, Spice Finch pays homage to a passerine that does not sing, yet is known to vocalize or chirp in recognition of good eats. We are inspired by the distinctive flavors of the nations bordering the Mediterranean Sea, and heavily influenced by the cultures and culinary traditions of Morocco and Greece. Our menu is a bold, seasonally accurate menu featuring an array of small plates, vegetables, grilled meats and fish. Follow us on Instagram @SpiceFinchPhilly
“If you haven’t tried the tasting menu at Spice Finch, you’re missing out on an extraordinary Mediterranean culinary experience. Every dish was perfectly seasoned and beautifully prepared. The lamb shank was incredibly tender—practically falling off the bone. My server Em made the evening even more memorable with enthusiastic descriptions of each course and excellent wine pairings. Spice Finch has earned a permanent spot on my must-visit list whenever I’m in Philly. Thank you for a wonderful evening!”
“Spice Finch delivers exceptional Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Seated at the chef's table with 7 college friends, we experienced standout starters: garlic yogurt, green hummus, and melitzanosalata (first time trying… excellent). Chef's beet recommendation hit the mark…smoky & sweet. Shanti fries and roasted cauliflower were astounding. Highlights: pri-pri shrimp with pita, steak frites, swordfish, eggplant kebab. All top-notch. The tahini brownie is essential. Chef sent complimentary chickpea wedges which melted in your mouth. Service note: staff clearly stretched thin. Drink orders lagged. With better timing, our group could've easily doubled the bill. Our college friend is the exec chef here, and we couldn't have been more impressed or thankful for an incredible night. Watching someone you've known for decades command a kitchen at this level is a genuine treat. We'll be back. 100%.”
“Really enjoyed spice finch. The chef definitely knows what they're doing! the roasted eggplant dish was the best eggplant dish I've ever had. So flavorful and fresh. The menu is vast and i felt the prices were appropriate. Portions were good on everything. The margarita on the menu was SO delicious. I'll be back and highly recommend for vegetarians. MAKE RESERVATIONS! they do have a full service bar seating for walkins but they were fully booked after 6pm on a saturday evening i was there”
“Had a great time with friends here! Would come back to try out their happy hour. Our service was ok, nothing crazy. When we asked if she could package our dinner, she just brought boxes. Food was decent, my friends loved their steak frites!! And everyone loved the Mezze, very filling and flavorful.”
“Food allergies can be very serious and I’m deeply disappointed that my allergy to tree nuts was mishandled. They were informed of my allergy at all levels and I still had an allergic reaction following my visit to spice finch. At some point our server said something to the effect of “oh did you like the roasted beets with the pistachios” and my eyes lit up because…. There shouldn’t have even been any pistachios at my table. I’d like to believe he just misspoke. But hearing that as the person with an allergy is at the very least, concerning. I would love to make an addendum to my review. I will be contacting management and would love to make an edit to this review. Outside of a potential life threatening mishap 😵💫 I have many great things to say about Spice Finch. Firstly, you can tell that though some items may seem simple, there is a lot of care in the layering of flavors/textures and overall care in the food that is put out. Very warm and pleasant interior design. The staff are nice enough, especially the manager that was on duty. Andres was patient and kind. The chef’s tasting menu was amazing for me and my family. We enjoyed so many items - notably the lamb shank, broccoli tabbouleh, and the fried chickpea fritters (not sure what they’re actually called). It was so much food and well worth it.”
