Fin and Tonic is a Tapas restaurant in the Suffolk neighborhood of Portsmouth.
“The speakeasy is a fun area to go into. Talented mixologists on staff. Food is delicious! Great place for a date night or to hang with friends”
“Great time, great vibes. I enjoyed the food and drinks. The seared scallops & risotto were seasoned well. The tuna Tartare tasted fresh, but I did not like the ice cream with the dish. The tuna and ice cream tasted fine separately, but I didn't like the combo.”
“We visited Fin & Tonic on Valentine’s Day and, while the food was good overall, the experience didn’t quite match the expectations set by their other Fin & Seafood location we experienced last year on the same holiday. Service felt noticeably less attentive compared to what we’ve experienced before. Given that it was Valentine’s Day, we expected a bit more intentionality in the presentation and ambiance. There were no flowers on the tables, no white tablecloths, and the overall atmosphere felt more laid back than intimate. It’s possible we were seated in a different section, but the vibe didn’t feel particularly special for the occasion. The food itself was solid, well prepared and enjoyable but when factoring in the service and ambiance, the price point felt a bit ambitious for the overall experience. Not a bad visit, just not quite at the level we’ve come to expect from the "Fin" brand.”
“My experience overall might’ve been a three star, but the ending of the night left a sour taste in my mouth - literally. I had issues with all but one of the courses I tried. The lump crab dip was very good, the best of all the food. The server we had was very friendly and attentive, but can’t exactly say the same for the manager. Here is why it’s a two star rating. I had the shrimp and grits and the pork belly didn’t have a crispy top as it appeared it would. The shrimp had so much lemon that it was difficult to eat. The parmesan risotto was seasoned with so much pepper, you couldn’t even taste the cheese. I didn’t end up finishing that at all. The absolute worst part was the crème brulee. It was strawberries and cream. The sugar was burnt and so thick which it is not supposed to be and the custard wasn’t even set. It was honestly the worst I’ve ever had. When we asked remove it, the manager said he couldn’t because it was their “own recipe.” Whoever the night manager in the speakeasy should have removed that dessert because if that is their own recipe, they should be ashamed. I would never serve my customers a burnt top, liquid crème brulee. If your chef doesn’t know how to make it, that’s on them but the fact that I still had to pay for it is bad customer service. I gave this place a try and don’t need to return. For those prices, I expect good quality food. The least the manager could’ve done was ask to replace the dessert with another, but instead he made me feel as if it was my fault for not liking the dish, claiming it was popular, when I highly doubt that’s the case.”
“Are waitress was barely there? We've seen more of the hostess helping us. The food came to the table cold. I don't mind spending good money at a restaurant. But when the service and the food is subpar its a problem. We'll never cool there again.. I'd rather go to Aldo's great food.Great price great atmosphere”
