“My parents live in the area and every visit home involves stopping by this specific restaurant - both in its current and previous iteration. Only complaint is that it opened up after I moved away. Much needed upscale and quality food for the area, while maintaining the same unpretentious vibe that attracts people to Gull Lake in the first place. Food, drinks, and service are all fantastic. Excited to see this restaurant continue to grow - can't wait for what they do next!”

“My husband and I had dinner tonight (1/17/26) downstairs. Atmosphere downstairs is quite nice. Had not been in since the name change. Loved to see some of the Kitchen House items on the menu. Would love to see Kitchen House pork tenderloin on the menu. Snapper fish feature was FANTASTIC. Enjoyed the angel hair shrimp and salad both from KH menu. Wine, bread, and ice cream pie were also great. Will be back again soon.”

“A great dinner, my Alaskan Halibut was perfectly cooked and my husband enjoyed the shrimp pasta. Caesar salad is nice to split. I would love to see the kitchen bring back the meatloaf from Kitchen House for the fall and winter. Maybe a Saturday night special? Add some beef short ribs over polenta as another fall choice. We really like this place, the menu needs a fall refresh, it would be nice to see new items show up.”

“Compass and Cleaver is our favorite restaurant. Dinner in a cool summer night overlooking the lake in the back patio is scenic, relaxing and delicious. Just this past Saturday—we held a Celebration of Life Ceremony for my father at Compass and Cleaver. Ken prepared food that my my father loved in exquisite Compass and Cleaver fashion. Thoughtful attention to detail led to positive comments from every guest that arrived. I cannot imagine a better way to honor my Dad and show love to the people he loved. We arranged a boat ride for our guests. Just a walk across the street to the docks and we were off. My sincerest gratitude to Jen, Paul and the Compass and Cleaver staff for providing the perfect setting and delightful food to help honor my Dad. Compass and Cleaver is a special place, with extraordinary people.”
