“We came here for my birthday (from NH) last night and had a reservation for 8:30. We got hungry before then and went in but they didn’t have a spot so we sat at the bar. This was genuinely one of the best food experiences we’ve had. We’ve been together 7 years so we’ve had a lot of restaurant dates. While I unfortunately can’t remember our bartenders name, he was great. Very attentive and kind, along with the other two bartenders, which was difficult being the 4th of July weekend. We got the bacon wrapped scallops which were phenomenal. I wish I could remember the older gentleman’s name that brought us to our table because he was very sweet. Derek was our server, along with someone else (I can’t remember his name either, so sorry!), and it was the best service we’ve ever had. They checked on us constantly, but not too much that it was bothersome. We both got the stuffed shrimp and I almost cried when we realized we couldn’t bring the leftovers home because the car ride is too hot. The wait times were nothing for a holiday weekend. Every single interaction we had was kind and attentive, even with waitstaff that were passing by. They replaced cutlery and napkins after each course and provided the best dessert recommendations (if you don’t get the baked Alaska, you’re missing out!!!) Genuinely the best birthday restaurant experience I’ve ever had. Thank you!!”

“Brian was excellent! We had patio seating and he made sure we enjoyed our meal, as we were celebrating my husband’s birthday. We enjoyed the calamari, stuffed lobster, paella and a special chocolate bread pudding dessert. Our drinks were refreshing and complimented our meal well. We may not be able to visit Hemenways for awhile; as we are expecting our first baby any day now, but truly appreciated the experience and hope to return to Hemenways in the future with our family.”

“Amazing restaurant in Providence. Right on the river with a beautiful view of the water. Lots of great options on the menu- making it hard to choose. They use local vendors and fresh caught fish. Great wine list and cocktails. They have an appetizer samplers that includes traditional Rhode Island stuffies, but stuffies themselves were not listed separately. Our waiter said we could order them separately. Great service and they were delicious! A few of us got the lobster- fisherman’s style. That means it was stuffed with seafood like scallops and shrimp. Sooo tasty! If you want a fantastic meal, this is the spot. Make sure to book ahead.”

“Omg this is the best restaurant in Providence! You have to come, it’s exquisite every single dish, detail and attention. I had one of the best experiences in my life, this is the true meaning of elegance, I wast treated like a VIP, they are the very example of excellence in hospitality. From the pristine hostess to the runners and I can’t forget the sweat heart waiter. They have great prices, exceptional location, romantic views and top quality food, I really can’t wait to go back and bring all my family. Thank you.”

“Food is the freshest and of great quality BUT dishes are simply too salty. I thought it was only mine but starters and mains for my entire table were all this way. My dish was a whole haddock and it was over-seasoned, difficult to enjoy. My dinner partner ordered a lobster roll; it was underwhelming in size, in contrast with the large amount of fries, all very salty too. I used to enjoy coming to Hemenway’s but it doesn’t feel special anymore.”
