Our Story: Rooted in Passion, Grown with Purpose In the spring of 2020, amidst global uncertainty, husbands Justen Nickell and Steven Rosario courageously embraced a lifelong dream: acquiring a quaint winery nestled in the picturesque Hudson Valley. What might have seemed like daunting timing to most became, for them, an unexpected opportunity—a quiet season that allowed for deep reflection and purposeful transformation. The initial eight weeks of quarantine were far from easy, yet they offered Justen and Steven the rare gift of time—time to reconnect with the land, reimagine the vineyard’s future, and reorient its practices toward sustainability and renewal. Embracing a fully regenerative, biodynamic approach, the couple began transitioning away from conventional methods, driven by a commitment to cultivate not just vines, but vitality and biodiversity across the estate. Central to their philosophy was a focus on hybrid grape varieties, chosen not only for their adaptability and resilience but for their unique ability to capture the essence of the Hudson Valley’s terroir. Since taking the reins, the duo has planted more than 4,500 new vines—each one a symbol of hope, growth, and the future they are building together. In the cellar, Justen and Steven practice minimal intervention winemaking, allowing each vintage to express the rhythm of its season. Every bottle tells a story—a reflection of the land, the climate, and the creative spirit of the people behind it. Their work extends far beyond the vineyard rows.
