Hunã is the newest cocktail bar and hidden oasis right in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor; highlighting a cocktail menu full of tiki classics & modern twists by bar manager Max Schikora, a food menu of pu-pu's created by Chef Joe VanWagner, and an ambiance designed to transport you to another place. Hunã currently is walk-ins only. There are 80+ seats for walk-ins so feel free to stop by!
“We had our little surfboard table for two off to the side and just watched the evening unfold. We had been in before but Luca showed us the way for this visit. He understands the cocktails on offer and why they’re above and beyond what you will find elsewhere. We had a great time with great beverages and quickly found ourselves with only carefree thoughts. “Huna is such a fun and exciting addition to downtown Ann Arbor’s entertainment scene! From beginning to end, the experience was fantastic. The space is so cleverly designed that it truly feels like you’ve been transported to tropical Hawaii or a Disney attraction. Our server, Luka, really brought the whole experience to life. When we arrived, he gave each of us a “passport” that featured all the drinks, and that’s where our journey began. I usually stick to the same drink when I go out, but with Luka as our guide I discovered a whole new world of fun cocktails. Our group tried several different drinks, and every single one was perfectly crafted and unique. The drinks alone would be worth the visit, but then we explored the food menu! We ordered the bao buns, noodle salad, and coconut shrimp (which was my favorite). Everything was delicious. Make sure you save room for dessert because the rum cake with caramelized pineapple ice cream is fantastic. If you’re in Ann Arbor and looking for a great time, Huna is definitely the place to go.”
“Once we got past the wait, the experience was lovely. Luca did a great job at answering our questions, accommodating the group and we had a wonderful time. Having 15 people come in and out can be stressful but he made sure everyone always had a drink and we were able to pay individually. While I didn’t love the 22% added to an already expensive cocktail, I did appreciate that it was mentioned every time someone paid and is noted on the menu.”

“My husband and I were SO excited when we heard one of our favorite restaurants was opening a tiki bar! We love tiki bars and knew Echelon would bring their top-notch food, drinks, and service. We were impressed from our first step inside! From the staircase to the bar to even the bathrooms, everything feels like a classy, vintage tropical escape. We grabbed seats at the gorgeous long bar and kicked off our mini-vacay. The bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable (especially Will), and the drinks were expertly crafted with quality ingredients and fun garnishes. My favorite was their Mai Tai with passionfruit foam, and my husband loved the Thunderbird. We ordered galbi ribs, coconut shrimp, and poke for dinner. We’d probably skip the ribs next time (small for the price), but we’re definitely trying the bao buns after hearing others rave about them. Our dessert -chocolate and coconut - was delicious. We can’t wait to go back - next time with friends for the High Tides bowl and Octo-shotski!”
