“The food was absolutely amazing, and the service from Darby made the whole experience even better! 😍 The place was very kids-friendly as well. It had a diaper changing station in the washroom and they also provided the crayons for my baby!! Everything exceeded our expectations 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 We’ll definitely be coming back more often. Highly recommend the bakery too!! So delicious 😋”
“We love this little spot in Walnut Grove! We’ve been here twice now and tried at least half the menu and everything is fresh and delicious. The Ukrainian wine is unique and adds to the experience and the service has been excellent not times. This place feels warm and hospitable. We’ll continue to come back.”
“Absolutely loved our visit to Kozak last night! It is such a beautifully built, cozy gem of a cafe. The atmosphere is warm and inviting—perfect for a relaxing evening. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome the moment we walked in. We tried the Ukrainian Latte and a Cheese and Onion Bun, and both were hits! The coffee was rich and flavorful (exactly as expected), and the bun was fresh and savory. The pricing was very reasonable for the high quality of food and service we received. It’s centrally located and easy to find, making it the perfect neighborhood spot. We will definitely be back!”
“I drive past here all the time and always saw that it seemed to have people inside so I got curious and finally stopped by. It is equal parts bakery/grab-and-go/takeout/sit down restaurant. I picked up perogies, cabbage rolls, and a number of baked items. The perogies were 🔥, a nice chew and perfect size without feeling heavy. The cabbage rolls tasted very dark; I’m used to brighter, more tomatoey / passata-based recipes. But this could simply be a function of never having had "authentic" cabbage rolls so YMMV. The babka was great, but I found the rum baba quite dry. I do want to try the herring plate next time as I love me a good fish+bread combo. They also sell their own smoked pork belly which sounds intriguing. Interior is bright and warm, servers were friendly.”
“We had the dine out menu as well as the lunch combo. The standout were the cabbage rolls, which were flavourful and tender, and really went with the sour cream. The borsch was nice too. But the bread was rather dry, as well as what came with the beet tartare. The beets themselves were great - tender and very nicely fragrant. I felt that the lox and roe didn't benefit from the rest of the dish being warm, and it made them taste fishy. The pierogi had a thin, soft shell, but the meat fillings were too dense and not particularly flavourful. With the elk, if anything, most of the flavour came from the toppings and not the filling itself. I might come again for the cabbage rolls if I have a craving, but I don't think I'd eat the rest again.”
